Which is why we tend to call ourselves libertarian socialists, and not libertarian. The original term is libertarian, but since the US Libertarian Party was established, it is being used to describe free market capitalism.
Libertarian socialism is basically an anti-authoritarian form of socialism, also known as left-libertarianism. Brands of that include Council Communism and Anarchism. I am an Anarchist.
While it may seem like an oxymoron, a libertarian socialist isn't someone who advocates freedom and government control at the same time, but rather, a worker-controlled society, which is what is meant by "socialism". We, libertarian socialists, believe that true socialism cannot be established unless the workers themselves gain control of the economy.
Mikhail Bakunin once wrote, "When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called 'the People's Stick.'"
