US election: How does the world react to its outcome?

You might know that the US voted just recently. The Democrats won back one chamber of the congress after 12 years or so. Bush faced a debacle.

CNN summed it up quite well in my opinion:
World reaction: Democratic win welcomed - CNN.com

Whats your personal view of it? Do you think the election has mentionworthy consequences of how the US will act on the world scene? Will it cause any change in the Iraq politics or how the US acts towards the rest of the world in general?

And as European I have to ask of course the question, how to celebrate appropriately that Bush was punished by his own people for his policies.

I think this was a vote to show the disapproval of the idiot in chief, as one pundit put it, not a "go ahead" for the Democrats to run wild with their policies now. It wasn't so much a "welcoming of the Democrats" as it was a middle finger to Bush.

All of the country there were votes for things like the ban of gay marriage, in one state the making English the official language, denying services for illegal immigrant children...the country seems very much right-of-center still. I think the Democrats need to tread lightly on the tiger's tail.

It really seems the sole part of the US only somewhat liberal to be San Francisco. At least in terms of open mindedness.

I suppose the effect will be an increasing isolationsim by America. The problem is that it may well cause Bush to pull out his troops from Iraq before the Iraqi government is ready, which could cause the whole thing to collapse.
Although in the long run, it would probably be a good thing for America to leave us all alone.
