Obama mulling 2008 run

He's now said explicitly he's thinking about it and will make a decision after the 2006 elections.

Somewhere in America, Hillary Clinton is cussing and kicking a puppy.

Somewhere in America, Democrats have found hope for victory in 2008.

That was priceless! Though I really hope to someday soon have a woman president....please don't let it be her.

Hope. Now THAT's priceless! I may yet learn to have faith in the Dems (though I'm still extremeley skeptical).

Yeah, I was just about to post this up. I couldn't believe that he was going back on his word not to run. I think that it's a mistake for him. He might get hung by his own words for this. I also do not think that the United States is ready for a black president. He will lose every Southern state and a lot of the Midwestern ones just for being black. He should wait a while.

His promise was to the people of Illinois. They will let him know if they are upset about him breaking it.

Obama is mostly immune to the race problem IMO, because he's a forceful leader who doesn't define himself by his race. The number of real racists in this country is maybe 2%, and none of those are voting Democrat anyway.

It also doesn't hurt that he's half white. He'll also get some mileage out of speaking out against the pathologies of many African-American communities. That always goes over well with white audiences(heck, it goes over well in black churches too, although maybe not so much with the NAACP).

After all, he is a politician and when was the last time one of them kept his word?

You would like the job, paid about $165,00 a yr and work 3 days a week and all the money you can stir up. Sounds like the perfect gig to me.

Many do. About half of the Republicans who promised to term limit themselves in 1994 kept that promise.

So should we start a pool on how long it will be before Clinton starts digging up dirt on Obama?

The people who would vote against him because he is black are the people who don't vote. They are too F'd up on Meth to follow politics. Shit, a lot of people would probably vote for him just to show how understanding they are or some shit like that.

Personally, I'd have to hear what he has to say before I decided, but being a democrat, he already has one huge strike against him, but him being black doesn't have anything to do with it. Over all I think he's a pretty good guy.

You know...... we don't turn the fire hose on black people anymore down here don't you? In fact, in Alabama black people virtually run our capital.
