Future of US forces?

After using this speech in several other threads someone pointed out that it is probably worthy of a topic of its own. Its a real policy maker pushing the future outlook of the US. He has many good points and pretty much shares my vision for the future as well.

Much more easily said than done,in today's world, that's for sure.
It's the same thing we did after every war from WWII forward, isn't it? I mean,it's still basically "hearts and minds",right?

Yea but it takes what we've been trying to do in every war since WWII and make a systematic approach. This should start an IMF bankruptcy style proceeding where countries could be reviewed if considered politically bankrupt.
There are obvious uses and not to mention under these style proceedings its likely more restraint would be shown.

I think if the US looked around they'd notice that their army is getting older in age and they bumped up the age of recruiting a lot recently probably to start on this exact strategy. We would gather allies better if we did our homework better.

Anyways, I just thought it was a great speech. I think we are at a point in global history that is clearly pivotal going forward and I agree with most of the points made here for the future. The "sysadmin" force is being built as we speak imo, and lord knows we are farther ahead technologically then ever. We really have an opportunity to apply minimum rule set for all of mankind. Something that at least the super majority of the world can agree on.

Its a great site in general and I think many here on both sides of the isles can relate to the topics. These are real policy makers and leaders in their fields, they do more to lead then most of the politicians we talk about.
