Bush Lashes Out At Critics

United States President George W Bush has hit back at opponents of his new plan to send more than 20,000 extra troops to Iraq.

In his weekly radio address, Mr Bush said sectarian violence in Iraq was the main obstacle to a political solution, and the best way to help Iraqis reach a solution was to assist them in quelling the violence.

He said his political opponents had a choice to make.

"Members of Congress have a right to express their views and express them forcefully, but those who refuse to give this plan a chance to work have an obligation to offer an alternative that has a better chance for success," he said.

"To oppose everything while proposing nothing is irresponsible.

I think he is mistake. Some Demos have endorsed the ISG report, which, if you recall, had several recommendations on how to handle the situation; and since it was endorsed I would say that is an alternative bush was looking for. You may not agree with the report, but it is an alternative.

"To oppose everything while proposing nothing is irresponsible."

That statement is kind of ironic coming from Bush.

The quote "To oppose everything while proposing nothing..." should end with '.....has become the norm for politics...' as it certainly seems to be the oly response I hear regarding the govenor here in Michigan.

Let us not forget that the Congress, dem or rep, does not set policy, only the funding, so it is not their job to come up with policy. Yes, the Dems will critise, just as the repubs would if the shoe was on the other foot. If the Dems offer an alternative, the conservs would jump on that as the Congress was trying to take over the job of forming policy. Typical, plitician word games, not substance just trying to keep the shoe on the other foot as long as possible.

Two things you might want to remember.
1 the Democratic majority of congress have been on the job for 2 and half months the Republican party has been a mojority of congress for 3 yrs.
Maybe some of the bills brought up by the Democrats maybe a little shaky, but it beats Hell out of debateing gay marriage or where to put the ten commandments or making speaches in Florida over the rights of a husband and wife.
2 If Bush is going to "lash out"against his critics, according to the polls he's going to be too busy to vacation to Crawford anytime soon
