Forum Diplomacy Game

Welcome! Seven competitors will soon face off in a showdown for control of Europe and the winner will be immortalized forever.

Moves due: Monday and Thursday at 8PM Central.

The first seven players to post a message expressing their desire to join will be the one's who play. No experience is necessary.

Players so far (as of March 19th, 2008 7:23 PM CST)

GERMANY - Caltex (667)
FRANCE - africanhope (559)
ITALY - Aztek (551)
BRITAIN - Wraith (489)
AUSTRIA - Kazikli Bey (58)
RUSSIA - Slartibartfas (33)
TURKEY - Independent147 (21)

The game is called Diplomacy. Part military strategy, and part diplomatic realpolitik. Each player controls a nation. You will submit turns daily [or at a less frequent interval agreed upon by players prior to the start of the game]. Turns will be submitted to me via Private Message on this forum. The movements and battles will be displayed on various maps that I will post on this thread as the game progresses. The specific rules for how the game works and how it is played are in the instruction sheet I have made (see attached file).

The nations involved are as follows:

Austria
Britain
France
Germany
Italy
Russia
Turkey

Here is the layout of the game map and the various territories and supply centers (see instructions):

The first 7 people to post a message saying that they want to play are in. Be sure that you have the time in your day to participate. Multiple players can team together if they like as long as they all agree to it.You do not get to pick your nation though, that is done randomly and fairly in a predetermined fashion that I will announce later.

Thumbs up

This is a fabulous game (which I've played before as the UK and then as Turkey). I highly encourage this game to be played and I would love to see it played on this forum. I do not have the time to play this game, but again, it would be beautiful if people did play this game and posted each turn up on the forum.

I salute you, sir.

For anyone concerned about time, the game will be happening very, very slowly. Turns will be due at 8 PM central daily. It only takes a few minutes to type out your movement plan and send it to me. The (potentially) time consuming part is communicating with other players to negotiate (if you choose to do that), which would be difficult for anyone who only checks the forum once a day for a few minutes.

Daily is extremely fast. Last time I played it was 2 moves a week.

The problem with daily moves is that there is no time for diplomacy, which is what the game is about.

Really? I've seen people do it online in much quicker format. I guess I'll leave it open to the people who are playing to decide how much time they want to have between turns. Thanks for the input.

We should try to get Slartibartfas and that other Austrian dude to play. Slarti loves board games. This is right up his alley. I will put a link to this thread in my signature.

Cool thanks web. I'll keep updating the OP to show people currently signed up. BTW...why 1912? (nevermind...it won't let me edit the original post any more)
