The Pack is Back
As a die hard Packer fan I thought that our season was over first with the Seattle 14-0. Then i thought about the Cowboys where the Pack attack is useless. I couldn't believe that the Giants won good for them even Pawns have there use. ( I hope that i don't have to eat my words sunday). But now it seems that they are going to the Superbowl. Now all I have to worry about are the Pats. LOL
GREEN BAY, Wis. – In one week’s time, the Seattle Seahawks’ defense went from dominating to decimated.
The Seahawks surrendered a season-high 235 yards rushing in a 42-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the second-worst performance in team playoff history.
The only team to have gained more yards on the ground against Seattle was the Cincinnati Bengals, who rushed for 254 yards on Dec. 31, 1988, in an AFC Divisional playoff game.
Not coincidentally, the Seahawks lost that game, too.
Run defense wasn’t the only area lacking against the Packers. Seattle couldn’t pressure or stop Brett Favre and couldn’t stop the Packers on third down.
“You have to stop the run to earn the right to rush the passer,” Seahawks defensive end Patrick Kerney said. “Obviously, we at no point neutralized their running game.”
Or passing game. Favre threw for two touchdowns and 173 yards, with all but 40 coming in the first half as the Packers opted to hand off to Ryan Grant, who rushed for a franchise-playoff record 201 yards and three touchdowns.
It was also a career-best effort for Grant, who led Green Bay with 956 yards this season.
“He’s been doing it, just looking at film, since he’s been in there,” Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill said. “But he hasn’t done it like that.”
Two factors in the Packers’ offensive success – they scored on six consecutive possessions and held Seattle to one sack, which was more of a technicality than anything – were the play of Favre and the offensive line.
Hill said Favre got rid of the ball quickly, which helped negate the Seahawks’ rush. And the Packers’ line gave Favre, who completed 18 of 23 passes, plenty of time to throw when he when looked down the field.
“They did a nice job of pass protecting because I don’t think Brett got hit once,” Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said. “I really don’t think he got hit at all.”
Kerney didn’t get hardly a finger on him. Like the Washington Redskins did last week, the Packers often gave help to the player assigned to block Kerney. Tackle Mark Tauscher did a good job, said Kerney, and had help from tight end Bubba Franks and the Packers’ running backs.
“I came into the game expecting that and expecting myself to fight through it,” Kerney said. “I didn’t meet those expectations, and it’s hard to deal with.”
Kerney, though, was not the factor he was against the Redskins, whom the Seahawks harassed into two interceptions and held to just 14 points.
Stopping a team on third down – an issue this season – was a problem against Green Bay. The Packers rolled to 25 first downs and converted a season-best 7-of-10 third down opportunities.
“The difference is they came out and they made plays, doing what they needed to do on third down, especially,” said cornerback Marcus Trufant. “They got first downs and kept drives going. As a defense, we can’t let that happen.”
Linebacker Julian Peterson said the poor performance was not just unexpected, it was fluky.
“That’s funny that you said fluke because that’s how we felt like this was,” Peterson said. “We have a better defense than that and we don’t give up 200 yards rushing.”

235 Rushing yards the Seahawks allowed, the second-most in Seattle’s history
201 Rushing yards by Green Bay’s Ryan Grant, a franchise playoff record
1 Sack by the Seahawks against the Packers
18-of-23 Passes completed by Packers QB Brett Favre
25 Years since the Seahawks won a road playoff game (27-20 at Miami on Dec. 31, 1983)

Tony Romo blew yet another playoff game for the Cowboys. 50% completion rate and an interception to lose the game. =( I guess going to Mexico on vacation the week before game day wasn't such a good idea.

I was hoping that the Packers would win yesterday, because I wanted to see how they would fare against the Pats. But now we get a chance to see the Giants possibly get slaughtered in the Super Bowl.
Gosh, it seems that almost every year, the top seeded tops from both conferences hardly ever meet in the big game. Somebody usually gets upset, leaving an underachieving team to get beat up on in the championship.

The Giants will fair better than all of you think. Eli is finally living up to the name on the back of his jersey. Even if they don't win, they will be very good in the future. As long as they deal Shockey and get his loud ass out of the locker room. The Patriots will probably be 19-0 though. Maybe Strahan will break Brady's leg on the first play.

It's easy to assume that but just a few weeks ago the Giants nearly beat the Pats in a game that meant nothing to NY and a helluva lot to New England.
Maybe the Giants can pull it off after all.
