What sports are played in the US in December?

Hi guys!

We're goin on holiday in December to New York, we want to go to a baseball game, but I don't think they play then? What sports, and what teams will be playing in December in NYC?

thanks!

I believe that both New York football teams actually play at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Football and Basketball should be going on, they're both bound to have a home game or two for you guys. I prefer football, the Jets or the Giants. Try to get the Giants if you can, they're a better team and will probably have a more action packed game.

They only play in the Meadowlands though, right? How far is that from Manhatten?

Well, the Gaints and the Jets (they play in the same stadium) are only 15 - 60 minutes away, depending on where you're staying in Manhatten (I didn't know this, but the Giants are in NJ, not NY).

The Bills, don't worry about them, their on the far side of the state over by Canada, about a 7 hour drive.

NHL will be going on then as well. The New York Rangers play at Madison Square Garden just like the Knicks and the games should be just about as frequent (about 3 games per week). It might depend if one of the teams is on a road trip or something, but you should definitely be able to get tickets for one of those teams. The NHL's Islanders play on Long Island as well - don't know how far that is from the city.

Football games are a different story. Only 8 home games are played by each team every year so it's pretty tough to find tickets sometimes. Also, they're usually a bit more expensive and it's probably going to be pretty chilly at the football games. A Giants or Jets game would be a fun experience regardless though - I'm sure of that.

Dont they play basket ball at Maddison? But Ice Hockey sounds cool!

Does anyone know about the prices for games? US footy, NHL, or baseball?

Cheers for your help though,

Yeah, they play both basketball and hockey at Madison Square during December.

You can check prices on ticketmaster.com

In December you'll have all of the following going on....

Hockey - New York Rangers or New York Islanders
Basketball - New York Knicks
Football - New York Jets or New York Giants

It just depends on what you want to see and what's available I suppose.
