NFL Draft Weekend
Anyone here going to keep up with Saturday's draft? Of course it lasts two days, but the major headlines take place on the first day. The Dallas Cowboys have two picks, at 22nd and 28th, but I look for them to try to make a move for a veteran wide reciever by trading one of their picks away to another team. I'm also hoping that a contract deal can be worked out with Pacman Jones' agent by Sunday, by the time the Titans will need the Cowboys' fourth round pick. On a down note, it seems that the Cowboys traded Anthony Fasano and Akin Ayodele to Miami one day before the draft. I'm not sure of the reasons, but I'm kind of disappointed, because both players were very solid. Fasano has potential, and was a good second tight end in the two tight end formation.
Anyways, here is Mel Kiper's Mock NFL Draft. I have to admit that I'm kind of jealous of whoever lands Darren McFadden.

I was pleased by KC's draft picks today.
King Carl must not be making the choices this year.

The Cowboys ended up landing speedster RB Felix Jones from Arkansas and CB Mike Jenkins. So it seems that Kiper was almost on the money with those two picks, except he had a different corner being taken with the Cowboys' 28th spot.
The reception around here has been mixed. Some people were hoping that the Cowboys would not have drafted for backups, and instead, tried for starters. Felix Jones is not projected to become an NFL starter, but is instead, more of a complimentary back. But I'm interested to see what he and Marion Barber can do when taking turns with carries.
And of course, it looks like Pacman Jones is now a Cowboy. If he stays out of trouble, this should be an exciting scenario, considering that the Cowboys already have a top-notch shutdown corner in Terrance Newman. One of the problems that has plagued the Cowboys these past couple of seasons is that their cornerbacks seemed to get nicked up and miss a few games here and there, especially Anthony Henry. So it's nice to finally have some quality depth at CB.
If Terry Glenn doesn't make it back, I don't have any idea what they are going to do about finding another receiver, though they did okay last year. Hopefully their ground game can open things up; because last year, it was inconsistent.
