Dueling?

In America, do you think two people should be able to sign a liability paper and then duel each other in a place where they could not hurt others. They would be able to choose how they wanted to duel and then do it.

I'm taking "the why the heck not?" approach to my answer. I wonder if my insurance would cover that?
In reality, never, but for just a poll, sure!

I think people should be able to, but I don't like the government interfering that much.

Sure why not? People should do as they choose. If they both agree, then they know they risks.

I say no to this one. If it were ever allowed, people should be required to go through a one month cooling off period after the event that made them want to duel (ie: an insult to one's mother lol). During this month, the two individuals would need to be attended by a therapist. The therapist could evaluate the mental capacity and wherewithal of the two involved to determine if the concept and enormity of the duel (one of them will die) is understood by both parties. If its understood, let them walk some paces...

Cooling off period. Good point. Therapy is pushing it in my opinion, but good points.

I voted yes. It's better than crazy people going to shopping malls to unload their pistols. Besides, it's a good method of population control and culling the crazy out of society.

Soon it'd become sport, it'd be televised and kids would be practicing their quick draw at home. Frequent duelers would become heroes and kids would immitate them in their backyards. Dumb kids would shoot eachother. Bullets would be flying all over neighborhoods across the country. Someones daughter, son, grandparent would get hit by one of these stray bullets, which would spark yet another duel. A father is beaten in a duel, the son feels me must avenge him...

Oops, I think I over-analyzed a bit. Maybe it is a bad idea afterall!

Boxing with guns. But, remember I said in a safe environment. They would have to go a special area to duel first. So no strays or in the wrong place or it is murder. I still say yes.

I don't know if I should answer this question as I'm obviously not American, but haven't you notice that in most of the European countries dueling was wide spreaded in the past but has been banned sooner or later? Because sometimes people (especialy) young are ready to kill each other really for nothing - "You've stared at my girl!".
And what's wrong with good old fist-fighting - it let people to cool down but it is much less lethal
