Double Standard?
I saw this on Boortz.com.
Quote:
DOUBLE STANDARD? NAWWWW. COULDN'T BE!
Imagine this scenario. Two TV anchors are discussing a literary contest that has been won by a young black man. Now we know that political correctness demands that one of these anchors be a minority. It's OK if the other one is white. So the white anchor remarks that the young black man's superior literary abilities could only be due to his mother mating with a white guy. Now just how long do you think this white anchor is going to keep his job? Do we measure that time period in days, hours, minutes or seconds?
Now let's imagine that we have two men discussing sports on Dan Patrick's show on ESPN radio. You have Dan Patrick, of course, and Michael Irvin, who is black. They're talking about Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo. Romo, it seems, is the new darling of Dallas. Irvin says that Romo's athletic ability could only be due to some black ancestry. YouTube - Michael Irvin's Theory of Evolution[listen]
Let's be more specific here. I don't want to get this wrong. Commenting on Romo's five touchdown showing against Indianapolis Romo said that there must be "... some brothers in that line somewhere. Somewhere there are brothers. I don't know who saw what, where ... (maybe) his great great great Grandma ran over in the hood or something went down. Patrick then asked Irvin if that's the only way to become a great athlete. Irvin said that it was certainly one way, then added that maybe Romo's "great-great-great- great-great-great-great-great grandma pulled one of them studs up out of the barn ... back in the day"
Irvin has apologized. That should be the end of it. If Romo wants to take this up with Irvin, that's between the two of them. But you just know that what we're seeing here is a mighty blatant double-standard at work. Didn't Jimmy the Greek Snyder get fired for suggesting that a black blood line had something to do with athletic greatness? Oh yeah ... almost forgot. He's white.
