Sex Abuse by Teachers

Recently I have been noticing a large number of stories in the media about sex abuse or sexual misconduct by teachers. In all the cases they involved a female teacher abusing a male student. I understand why they make more headlines than the male teachers in scandals with female students but why are they more lenient in comparison to cases involving male teachers? Often cases between a female teacher and a male student the case is far more frequent and graphic. In every case involving a female teacher the courts are careful not to go to far in punishments while with a male teacher they do everything except cut is gentiles off. IMO there shouldn't be a difference between sexes in sex abuse cases. If states are going to crack down on sexual misconduct then it needs to be even across the board.

The females can pull off a victim type stance. That the boys seduced them and that they're sorry and willing to accept punishment for their loss of control. If a judge gave the maximum punishment after a statement like that, the public would eat him alive and probably call his decision sexist.

I also think it is because they believe that young boys aren't mentally hurt as much as young girls are, so there is less damage done and so less of a punishment is required.

I'm just tossen out thoughts.

Also this is a little off this subject isn't the statutory rape law only in effect for men? As older men (teens) can get the younger girls preganat but not the other way around? I think that may have to do with some of it, if it was consensual.

No, (well it is, but only in one state) I'll go get a list of all the state laws regarding S rape.

Teachers having at their kids, that's just strange and doesn't support teaching. But i've heard of some kid who was raped by his teacher and then later on married her when she got out of the jail, How warped is that?

There have actually been many more cases involving female teachers and their male students and I agree that the reaction of society is not equal to that towards the relationships between male teachers and their students. I believe that society as a whole is more lenient and or sympathetic with the females in most relationships. Though we have come a long way with the Feminist movement and how we view and treat women today, there is still not total equality. This idea of feminine vulnerability is still very much manifested today. Even though many would not like to admit it, the double standard is prevalent. Women are equal to men, yet the society’s view of male initiated domestic violence is frowned on upon much worse than female initiated domestic violence. In the case of these female teachers and their younger male students society’s view is not much different. We still see the male figure as dominant, and most capable of manipulation. The female is vulnerable and weak, and these teachers do a good job in playing into the role. The fact is the anatomy of manipulation has both a penis and a vagina.

Doesn't seem like a quality comment to me...

OK, I know he was joking. I just can't help it when I see "sexist" remarks and this thread was always going to go there IMO.

Bowing out.
