Racism will never go away, pointing out racial differences through law despite being in favour of those who have historically been discriminated(blacks) still doesn't help the situation.

check out Sudan, real, active, LETHAL racism between arab and black

Well unless they marry someone who is not white, date them, or are very very close friends with them, etc. Other than that I think most white people are oblivious to racial bias around them or that which they have.
or you could say that the "minority" is more likely to be racist and exhibit racist behaviour when they see more whites

They really have no concept of the sheer power dynamic between being 66% of the population who also holds a majority of economic/political power and the 33% who do not.
mind you, such baffling analysis would make Oprah more racist than some poor white guy from Virginia?

What happens in the big cities where whites are no longer a majority, does this "race" baton pass between huge groups of people dependent on the colour of skin

I also found that in Asia, the white people from the Anglosphere were the most likely to blow their top when someone Chinese or Japanese (the countries I lived in) openly discriminated against them for being foreign. The black people just expected it and usually didn't say much.

Ironic too, that in many asian countries, they have racist attitudes towards blacks that would make whites in the US blush

Not that I am questioning your undoutedly EXTENSIVE Asian experiences with numerous whites and blacks, but do blacks suddenly behave differently in Asia- as in the UK, i can assure you, many blacks are quite "aggressive" in seeking victimhood status

The white people were not use to being minorities. It was obvious.
What about if they were white people from Detroit or Nigeria

There is no such thing as "positive discrimination," all forms of discrimination are determental to society and help no one.

indeed.

Those people who make livings off the backs of racial division are shameful in the extreme- people like Sharples and Jackson make me sick

Ha! I bet you all thought I was actually thinking that, weren't you? Anyway even though the program was stopped, the fact that it was even created in the first place makes me lose whatever respect I had for the University of Delaware.
Sorry, but WND? Have they ever had a story that was not at least intended to be flame bait?

I think this was debated on this forum sometime ago the name wasn't "ALL WHITES ARE RACIST" though. I think it had something to do with Labels.

I mean there probably were some, dont you think so? Did they get nice T-Shirts for free with a nice slogan "Hi, you are looking at a racist"?
Perhaps some would show up.
I'm white I marched for civil rights in Fint, Mich., and other places, and yes I was spit on called nigger lover ect., but it did not stop me from marching .
There are a lot more "WHITE PEOPLE" like me that marched and protested for civil rights and against segregation, and would again.
However we didn't get any T-shirts, did get arrested though.
Not all people that protested against segregation were black, not all people that marched for civil rights were black either.

Well, I suppose there was a group of folks that thought I posted this thread .

But no, I would never go that far in thinking such a thing. All whites are not racist. I would not think of them as such because in my life, I have met and known genuine and lovely folks from all races (including whites).

But, I believe that when discussing race and racism, one has to put forth one's experiences and questions regarding these two entities. These life occurrences and inquiries must be examined with depth and perception. That is something I've always supported and encouraged.

I stand by that no matter how many other posters perceive differently about me or try to describe how I might do things in terms of certain issues.

Silence is not good, I always say. And especially in history, politics and society, one must go and investigate the causes of why there are gaps between various communities and how policy is affected because of that.

I agree with micfranklin on this stance. Instead, there should be courses on the "Culture of Whiteness" (meaning: what does being white mean? What does it mean historically? What does it mean in society?) and of course, I agree that "Racism" should be examined in all its permutations instead of a biased and narrowed view such as that one.

Instead, a course such as that at the University of Delaware only feeds to more misguided perceptions about people of color and how we discuss race in general. And as long as that happens, the discussion of race and racism cannot go forward.
