Although this is a forum about world politics and global issues, all important and intelligent topics, I am still looking for something better.

You see, it is very difficult to learn anything other than 'the average stupidity of people' from stupid people, and so I want to find somewhere that I can bounce ideas off of people, and hopefully learn something new.

I honestly don't mean to be rude or condescending to anyone. As an example, I was looking at a thread about transhumanism, in which, for starters, the poster turned out to be promoting a fascist society lead by cyborgs. And as I scrolled down to the first post, I found it was someone inquiring about the possibility of laser penises in the future. (I have never had to use the plural of penis before...)

Now I understand the value of a good joke, but I have found that there are very few cases in which I read something insightful, and again this is not an insult to the people on this forum, I just feel I need a larger percentage of smarter people in my daily conversing.

And so I ask, is there anywhere I can go, forum wise, to talk with people who can hold an interesting conversation with a minimum of 'laser penis' talk? Does anyone know of other forums, or somewhere on here that I can go?

I wonder how you can make such a post, then state you are not insulting the people your post refers to.
That particular thread was not taken seriously by the majority and therefore some posted jokes there. A super-intelligence would detect that.
There are many threads here which cover serious topics in an intelligent way. I have not noted any impressively insightful posts from recently joined members in any of these threads.

I don't think you posted it, Rodog. It was called "Cyborg Ascension" and was posted by "a cyborg".

It seemed to me to be based on a computer game.

People had a bit of fun with it, although some serious analysis was attempted.

I was posting to the more serious people, while I only meant to say I wished to talk uninterrupted by the less serious posters.I don't think I have been offensive. I guess I should not have used the word stupid, as it obviously carries a large negative connotation, but all I meant by it is that as I have learned, I no longer wish to read about things I already know, jokes or no jokes.

For example, I was also just looking at a thread on questions to atheists, and perhaps I shouldn't even mention religion, so I will simply say that I have heard all of those arguments before, and I would like to get more advanced insight, and this applies to many matters.

I have felt the same frustration. I have mulled this problem over in my mind for sometime. There does not seem to be anyway of seperating the wheat from the chaff on forums.
There is a MENSA forum somewhere. I believe that I used to monitor it a year ago or so.

I will look into a Mensa forum. I was hoping someone would have an idea of what I was looking for, thank-you.

I am sorry for making my query difficult on others, I should have more carefully described my inquiry so as not to offend anyone, as everyone on this thread has at least been open with their opinions.

Good luck with that. I don't know if Mensa is the right place for someone without the wit to locate their forum online. Perhaps they will have a thread on interpersonal skills and communication.

Regarding the OP, I believe the forum may have relaxed a little lately with respect to posters using normal language and interaction rather than formal debating style and this was addressed. The mods have posted intention to open a chat thread, perhaps in response to the needs of the type of person you purport to be.

Don't worry dude. I'm sure that most of the people on this forum are mature enough, even our younger members, to not really care of your impression of the posters on this forum. Perhaps you are looking for something a little less laid back. Most of the posters on this forum have grown familiar enough with each other to joke around, even after vehemently disagreeing with each other on more serious topics. I am not sure where an advanced mind such as yours can find the stimulation it needs, but I would suggest searching for forums that concern themselves a little less with politics and maybe a little more with science and technology ( I would have thought this would be a no brainer). I'm not sure how much time you spend looking at politicians, but it surprises me that a mind as nimble as yours would expect a strictly professional attitude in a forum that discusses what is, by my calculation, one of the least professional, serious, and intelligent of human inventions... politics.

But any who, God speed to you on your next adventure. Please do not frown upon the idea of a laser penis. We will need them when the laser cats arrive.
