Pillar, many of us are familiar with one another and have no problem discussing things in a non-conventional manner. If this is a source of frustration for you, then I suggest one of three options:

1. Starting your own forum and creating the 'perfect community for intelligent debate' based on your expectations and desires. (Note: this will turn away prospective people wanting to discuss politics and may only bring in a small minority of posters, making diverse debate viewpoints much harder to achieve).

2. Petitioning to the owner of this site for a more strict set of rules in discussion. (I don't see you getting very far with this one, of course, but it's there for you).

3. Simply deal with it.

That's my only real advice.

Sooner or later you will be up to date on all the science and philosophy thats out there. As a matter of fact I think it was dostoyevesky who said in one of his books that we have enough science to last us a thousand years.
