That was really a dumb move by the GOP candidates to skip out on the Morgan State forum debate. Though it may be not noticeable, there are a growing number of minorities who are leaning towards Conservatism. I mean, all you have to do is look at Condi Rice, Alberto Gonzales, and Collin Powell to see that it's not impossible to be a minority Republican and still hold high government office.

I was pretty disgusted by their decisions to skip out on the debates, and to me, the message was pretty clear that they don't care much about the black vote.

I think it's very common for young people to lean towards liberalism, so I wasn't really referring to them as much as I was the older minorities who were turned off by the democratic platform during the last election. There was a surprising number of Hispanics who caught the Democrats off guard when they voted for Bush instead of going the traditional route.

There's rumor that Giuliani was at some fund raiser, but I don't know where the other 3 were that night. What could be more important than going to something and trying to convince blacks to make you president?

You ask me for statistics, but then come out and confirm that there has been an increase in Hispanic voters leaning towards the right? Bush surprised much of the left by capturing 40% of the Hispanic vote in 2004. One of the main reasons for this, was because of the increasing number of Hispanics who are turning Evangelical.

I never said that they didn't vote more Republican than Democrat. I simply mean that it's no longer a surprise to hear of a Black Republican anymore. As I said above, some conservative Evangelical minorities were turned off by the Democratic platform and decided to vote Republican in 2004.

My whole point was that, because of those two reasons, it was an idiotic idea for the four candidates not to show up at the Morgan State University debates. I was watching the Tavis Smiley show, and even his guests confirmed that more blacks are now open to at least hearing the Republican candidates speak. That's why it was such a self-destructive move for these candidates not to show up.

Hello, almost all of South America is Roman Catholic, falling under the religious lines that tend to fall into Republican hands. For Rodog to say such immature comments, baffles me. Just ignore them. You want to know why Democrats are so worried about these votes? because they know that they will lose them over time b/c religion rules over politics.

hispanics will turn to republicans. pubs just need to get some more influential hispanic leaders in its ranks.

And people wonder why there is such a surge of vocal atheists, non-theists, and agnostics speaking out in the political sphere. It's because of statements like this that people actually believe somehow. Amazing.

And yeah, not showing up to that debate pretty much gave the black voters a clear message.

A lot of people were turned off by the moral politics of the left that year. The Republicans don't have anyone but themselves to blame, if that trend doesn't continue. It's not because the Democratic policies are any better.

Ok well explain to me why Republicans would go into a black community or church and be laughed at? Especially when you got Jessie Jackson sitting right there? Blacks are not going to be persuaded by a speech from a politician are they?

For nearly 50 years the Dems have been lying to them about getting them out of the ghettos, yet they are still there. They give them free handouts so they vote for them.

Look at the Republicans who are black. Blacks make fun of Condi and say she isn't black enough. Why is that? Shouldn't they be appluading her? Bill Cosby gets booed for telling blacks to educate their kids and to teach them how to speak properly and gets booed for it!

How does a Republican change any of that?

You cant answer this question b/c it is a joke. Afraid of the black vote? Why would they be afraid of it? They have been trying to get it for decades, they just aren't going to change their beliefs in order to get it.

Actually, I'm assuming that you not only missed my main point, but are argumentative and wanting to debate over something stupid that I don't want to waste my time on.

But it's funny to know that you think you are better than what you really are.
