I had a funny thought. What would the country that was home to the "nipple-gate" do when being confronted with a building like that?
Or is that the reason why the US has so few old historic buildings?

Those Murai paintings are making want to start painting and drawing again. I still have a blank canvas and I'm off work tomarrow, so I might see if I still have it in me.

Well, we don't have a lot of nudes because we are the country that was started by protestants and boobies are evidently uncool, even if your capturing the the most beautiful of God's creation, which, in my opinion is a female nude. Women have got to be the finest thing ever created.
As far as there being few historical buildings. My hypothesis is that A) we're not that old to begin with. I don't think that Teepees have that long a shelf life, and B) in our effort to be modern and cutting edge, we have bulldozed a lot of our more historic buildings to "make way for progress. Plus, when we started out, America was pretty spartan and our original buildings, houses especially were not really made for withstanding the tests of time.

I was just joking here
There have been some really cool buildings in the US. But they were in the way of some investors. The Singer Buidling, and the Flat Iron for example, if I remember correctly.
Its an interesting issue. The whole imperial glory of Vienna around the Ringstraße, and the historicism that goes even beyond the the Gürtel, you know how old this is in reallity? 100-150 years. Not quite ancient you know.
Just have a look at this complex:

It has been finished in 1913. Thats not more than 94 years ago.
The US was already a large power back then. And I might not be surprised if the large American cities wouldn't have looked much different from our historicist citiscapes, except for the raster planning maybe.
The difference is you poured those buildings down again. For even higher ones. In Europe there got two worldwars a little into the way...
PS:
Of course we have also a baroque city center a cathedral that has been begun in the 12th century etc. But thats not predominant outside of the 1st district.

Wow… I didn’t even know this thread existed till now.
For most of my life before I became interested in politics, I wanted to be some kind of artist. When I was a kid, the first thing I wanted to be when I grew up was a scientist (of any kind really; I didn’t know what constituted a scientist at that point). The second thing I wanted to be was a comic book artist. Now I’m going to be a political scientist and a political cartoonist. Check out my first political cartoon ever:
It’s not exactly a political statement. I just felt like drawing chuckle-nuts and Darth Vader together in a comical way. You can’t really read what the captions say in this picture because I used my camera on my laptop to take it… it’s not the best camera in the world but it gets the job done.
In the picture bush is saying: “I’m the commander—see, I don’t need to explain—I do not need to explain why I say things. That’s the interesting thing about being president.” … “Money trumps peace.” … “I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe—I believe and what I believe---I believe what I believe is right.” … Heh Heh… All of those are real quotes by bush that I got off of my “bush countdown calendar” except for “money trumps peace” which I simply heard him say on the radio as I was drawing the picture. Bush’s brass knuckles say, “Decider” on them too.
I also got a printer/scanner with my computer that I will eventually use to import drawings into a comic book editing program so I can make some pro ass shit.

Thank you. Being that the picture is in a spiral sketchbook, the image kind of smeared (despite the fact I put about 5 layers of spray on ‘fixer’ on it). I can draw pretty much anything I can see but when it comes down to drawing something in my head I have a much harder time. (there are so many goofy pictures of these two that it’s not hard to find something to draw from.
