I have to agree. People are whining about the "huge" loss of life in Iraq now, and they fail to realize that our 4000 lost soldiers pales in comparison to the tens of thousands that were lost on D-Day. The Great Generation are the ones responsible for allowing the US to keep it's independence. If they had not banded together to support their country we would likely be under Nazi or Japanese control right now. These people went through a hell that we could not even imagine, and they deserve respect for that.

You know it. Agreement makes the world go round--even if it is on how to punish intolerably cruel bitches.

I believe she should be punished by having to pay the elderly woman's medical bills and then some. She also should have to do community service and pay for classes on anger management.

If she does do the above, she should get a misdemeanor charge and a short jail sentence. If not, then the penalty should be harsher, probably felony... but not 5 years in a male prison as suggested above. Yes, what she did was stupid and wrong, but the punishment should be measured in accordance with the crime. The fact that the woman was elderly should not be an aggravating factor for sentencing. Elders deserve no more or less respect than any other person.

Then I guess neither do children, because both groups are physically and perhaps mentally not as efficient as healthy adults, and both groups rely on the compassion and assistance of others.

It's not just the act she committed, it was the attitude and sticking her tongue out at those who questioned her actions, as if no one had that right. What kind of values is a useless woman like this going to teach her own children? Obviously the same ones that her mother didn't teach her.

She had probably just come from Wal Mart and at her wit's end with people blocking aisles while talking on their phones.

A girl like that is probably the one doing the blocking and blabbing. LOL

I disagree. One main problem that Americans have, in my opinion, is a lack of respect for elders. The fact that the woman who was attacked was 81 and the perpetrator of the violence was 19 makes the crime worse. An 81 year old is in no shape to defend herself against a 19 year old and it could even be argued that the crime only took place BECAUSE the victim was so old. If that girl had pulled over and a 25 year old woman had been in the other car perhaps she would have tried to attack but... maybe not. And if it had been a 25 year old man the chances of her trying to drag him out are even less. Though... again.. the chances of her resorting to violence rise again if it had been an 81 year old man.

So, I think the age of the woman attacked should be taken into account (it definitely is when victims of rape are senior citizens) and the girl should be required to pay for the medical bills and then some and also spend some time in jail (not prison) and be required to take anger management classes. She's young. She has time to change.

Ageism: the only form of prejudice where you become what you are prejudiced against....IF you're lucky.

To all the haters of the elderly and slow: do us all a favor and die now while you are young so you won't get in our way someday!

Not only should this woman be jailed but she should never have custody of her children again. If she's willing and able to do this to an elderly person, God only knows what she's capable of doing to her kids.

Personally, I think she deserves the harshest punishment allowable. Beating up an 80 year old granny just ain't right.
