You're basically saying someone cannot be a good and righteous person without god, which is bullshit. There are many good people who do not rely on some god in the sky.
It is hard for anyone to avoid feelings of lust or hate. The people who do it must rely on control of their own mind, which is possible, albeit pointless as if kept in check they don't hurt anyone. Hell a little lust spices up your life. Resisting temptation is much easier, most of us do it on a daily basis. I do it just fine without god.
You're quoting scripture which spouts out random things. What is the reasoning to believe its text is true. Where is the logical thought pattern on why it is. There isn't any. Religious texts just spout out doctrines and statements with no logical reasoning, no reason to believe them. That is why philosophy is better than religion in every way for pondering our own existence and its meaning.

I am trying to explain to you christian theology why God is good. do you think life would be better like this? Rare disease makes girl unable to feel pain - Kids and parenting - MSNBC.com
there is reason for everything. pain is something you must learn from in order to avoid it. you get hungry if you do not eat, but if you do eat you are rewarded with sensation of taste. Warm Cold all sensations like pain, this is physical realm where bodies need maintenence they need to be protected, pain is our warning to protect out bodies which are fragile.
What is your motivation to be moral without God? keep in mind Evil from human perspective is absense of necessary good, like pity.. immorality is the misuse of something good.. like fornication..

Christians believe god is good, because everything good in the world is attributed to his good graces, and everything bad is blamed on our sins or the devil. Forgetting the fact that this god is supposed to be all powerful, and thus is the one who created us as sinners. Thus he is to blame for everything if you believe he is all powerful. Thus god is not good, he's flawed himself (or at least likes to see others do wrong and suffer), and thus is not omnipotent, and is not benevolent. But if god isn't benevolent, then the entire idea of Christianity is flawed.

Free will is our ability to chose, it is not our nature or natural inclinations. Our nature is to be lazy, greedy, etc. Christians believe we are naturally bad to, the whole idea of original sin. Whenever someone does bad they are called a sinner, even though in order to not be one we have to go against our nature. If god really was so good and wanted us to do good, he would have made us naturally inclined to good not bad, thus we would have free will to do bad, but would do it far less.
I did leave out one important thing, whenever a natural disaster occurs or some other accident, and people are severely maimed or killed, or suffering is caused en mass for any reason like that, it proves that if god existed, he let it happen or caused it himself. Is god not responsible for doing this bad thing? Why does he always get the credit when a good accident, a freak occurance called a "miracle" occurs.
The fact is if god is to be all powerful, and responsible for miracles, like Jesus curing the blind, then he is also responsible for making people blind in the first place. Thus he is not perfect. To this I always get then typical response "well we just can't understand his reasoning", which is a cop out to not hold this creation of ours responsible for what he does. You can't be benevolent if you do bad. Period. Doing bad to cause further good, is still not benevolence, as bad has been done.

My personal belief is that God lets certain things run their course, like weather for instance.. but see if you ask, and you believe.. you will recieve.. not everyone asks, not everyone believes.. so things will happen as they are.
And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Existence of God can not be proven by lack of evil.. but by the inevitable triumph of Good over evil. The Bible says that the invisible forces battle over the souls of man. and each one soul makes his choice. but some chose to follow the lie because it seems easier, and more fun and rewarding..
but true reward, a clear conscience, and a true feeling of happiness lies in the path of self discipline..
I remember that night not long ago when I realized there was a God. and I remember being so terrified, so scared because I realized I was such a sinner having mocked and rediculed christians and God, and religion in general.. and I went out in the city cursing myself for being so stupid.. and I was overcome with this sense.. this feeling of like walking on air.. and seeing the people walking about minding their own business.. I saw normal people from all around the world, teenagers in their various little cliques, elderly and small children with thier mothers, buiseness people, I saw homeless people and prostitutes and drug users.. And I saw one guy.. that very day with a megaphone yelling out 'Jesus loves you, he died for you.." on a street corner.. And I was overcome with a sensation.. like of a admiration of God's creation and a feeling of God's love for his people..
Despite their lives living idly never giving thanks.. like children who only call their parents when they need money... all these people wandering away in their own little private world in isolation... I saw this.. like the matrix.. people never questioning the same mantra they have been told all their lives...
Every life has a meaning and a purpose.
God allowed the temptation of man in the Garden, and he allowed the fallen angels to exist and attempt to lead men astray, to worship and follow the ideologies and doctrines of evil.. Even they can receive God's mercy and forgiveness if they repent.. and that is really what God is all about. its his eternal mercy extended unto everyone who asks.. he wants you to CHOOSE to love him, not force you .. this is why he does not reveal himself to everyone..
God reveals himself in miraculous cures for the blind and lame as well. but it is better to enter heaven blind and lame, then hell seeing and able.

You're spouting your subjective personal experience and beliefs. I'm trying to debate the fundamental flaws in Christian doctrine and how God cannot be both omnipotent and benevolent at the same time as he has created fundamentally flawed beings, inclined to be greedy and lazy. Virus's that wipe out populations, ailments that cause only suffering, and other forms of causing pain. This proves that the Christian god as people believe him to be does not exist. There cannot be a benevolent and omnipotent power, as this world of suffering would be the creation. Thus it can only be one or the other. Either it is benevolent, but powerless to stop the nature of pain in the world, or it is omnipotent, but created a world of pain on purpose.
On the statement "God allowed the temptation of man in the Garden" If he exists and is omnipotent, then he created man, with the fundamental flaw that would cause him to give into temptation. Not only that, but if he is omnipotent he knew that man would give into temptation before even creating him, and thus could have foreseen the problem and fixed it before even creation. This is NOT about free will, this is about the fundamental flaw in man to be greedy, and have a "grass is greener" problem.
On "God reveals himself in miraculous cures for the blind and lame as well. but it is better to enter heaven blind and lame, then hell seeing and able." This is exactly the double standards that Christianity is full of. If he is all powerful he could prevent the torment before birth, why is he to be praised for curing some blind man 2,000 years ago, as he has allowed countless people to be blind since. It's like taunting his followers "Oh I could ease your pain, but I'd rather see you suffer."
The doctrine is flawed. The Christian god cannot exist in the form the bible says him to.

I can only explain the best I can. Suffering is inevitable in this world, because man is fallen. There are still miraculous healings that come to through prayers to Jesus Christ. God designed us to choose to love him. He did not make us zombies or robots, we are free to reject him. He designed us our earthly pleasures but we choose to misuse what God gave us, we choose to abuse what was designed for us. This is called immorality.
We all called on to have self-discipline. And our sufferings on earth are rewarded and understood. but also Jesus died for us. and We are expected to do same for him as christians as well. He was not nailed on the cross so the rest of the world can get wasted and fornicate like animals.
God can ease your pain.. oh you have no idea how amazing it can feel... you need to try it to understand...I am telling you.. it is incredible feeling..
but you really need to give it a chance..
God loves us all but his true love is not shown until you believe.. God makes a promise seek and you shall find, ask and you will recieve. this is an absolute promise that will come through. But make sure you are asking the right questions.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We cannot misuse the world we are given. We use it exactly the way our nature determines we will. If god was omnipotent he would have known before creating us that we would use it in the way we do. Thus if there were an omnipotent god, and he created us this way, we are using it exactly as he intended, or he would have created us differently. It would be like a programmer writing a computer program to destroy all it encounters but with a loophole to have the option to not destroy ,then blaming his creation for doing what it was created to do, and not opting not to.
Why do you think it is a god in the sky who makes you feel better? Is there any proof or reason to believe it is not you, exerting the healing powers of your own mind? I know that I can use my own mind and logic to make sense of my own life and achieve happiness. Why must this all be due to some god in the sky, isn't it more reasonable and logical to assume that you are healing yourself?
This debate is going nowhere. I keep using logic to show that faith is inherently illogical. I keep showing that the doctrine is flawed, and god cannot possibly exist as Christians believe him to. But you keep giving off more of your feelings and quoting scripture. I guess I'm done.

Ones religion has the black and white, yes and no, right and wrong boundaries. This in turn is much easier to preach because it has a simplistic explanation as to why they do things or believe in things.
Ones faith is too gray, and is usually much more personal. It tends to reflect the experiences that that single person has had, and ones faith may also argue with the religion that they follow. The faith that one person has allows them to interprit the religion that they follow.
I think that people tend to go with preaching their religion, because there are so many close minded people in this world....
Okay I dont know if youve gone through anything majorly significant that changed you entire outlook on something, that changed your 'faith' whatever it may be in, but say you did.... and you are telling someone about something that you believe in, they ask you how you could believe in that..... you give them your reasoning (the significant event that changed you) and in return that person tells you that there is no reason that the event that you experienced should have changed anything..... while arguing they are basically telling you that you were wrong for feeling and reacting the way you did in that situation.
I have not met a person yet, who can get through an attack like that with a dry eye or an intact 'heart'.
Faith is too personal to try to preach with others, especially because when you preach.... its usually to someone that doesnt agree with you so you are more likely to get the personal attacks.

Well, I was a bit of a nonconformist,before I became a christian.
It is my beleif that we all walk differant paths, and to GOD we are all indivdual,
what is good for one is not for the other, but the faith in God remains.
That is my opinion anyway, and to me my beleifs on how GOD works are private, I beleive the true God is in your heart not in any church.
