Well, all I'm saying is when you couple this with the Imams on the plane, the muslim lady in the gym, and the new muslim congressman taking his oath on the Koran (I'm still undecided about this one) it's getting pretty damn hard not to feel some resentment towards Islam.

I don't care if he put his hand on a Where's Waldo Book, it his choice as to what he swears on.

I agree, maybe its just the fact that such a big deal has been made out of it, or maybe its that its just an eerie feeling that this might be the first step toward bringing Islam into our government. I would rather them get rid of the ceremonial swearing on the bible than have people bring more religious influences into it. Like I said, I haven't decided my thoughts on it yet, as long as this is as far as he tries to take Koran into his public duties, I won't have a problem with it.

For what it is worth, I seem to remember reading in ‘House of Bush, House of Saud’, Craig Unger points out that some new mosques In the USA have been funded by Wahabbis of Saudi-Arabia and their influence then is comparatively strong. He suggested that the latest waves of Muslim immigrants to the US might be contain more fanatics than the established ones. I have gained no more knowledge of the scale of the problem. All quiet on the western front? I do not hear the same violent speeches being made by Muslim extremists in the US as are made in the UK. Not so much a cause for resentment against the religion. Just a situation to be considered.

Sorry man, you're wrong. "Islamic Extremists" are the norm for muslims. The other ones are liberal. In the Koran it says,
"Make war on the unbeliever. Hell shall be their home."
If that is peaceful, then, well, peace is deranged.

Yeah, seriously. Also, check out this deranged quote:
Quote:
|
Certain men, the children of Be'li-al, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known; then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be a heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
|
Here, Allah is telling them to hack up all non-believers and their livestock, put the corpses in the middle of the street and torch the city, corpses and all. All this is to be spolied, "every whit" for "the LORD thy God" (bloodthirsty fella, isn't he?)
And, if you don't believe that the Koran is fucked up - go look for yourself in Deuteronomy 13:13-19. Er, wait... I'm actually not sure which book that is - they all get so confusing with the fire and brimestone and all. But, if anyone does figure out which book that religion is from, we should automatically assume that anyone who believes in that religion takes that passage quite literally and is therefore deranged.

Trips, take a look at the New Testament, you'll see that the Old Law is dealt with.

I understand that. I'm just pointing out the silliness of saying "X religion is evil - look at this particular passage from their Holy Book with no context!" If you want to talk about the thread of radical Islam, it's really irrelevant what the Koran says. They would twist any words in it to suit their violent ends regardless. This is the same way that people have cited the Bible after beating up a homosexual, bombing an abortion clinic, or picketing the funerals of dead soldiers. There are a lot of people who don't follow the teachings of their religion, but instead bastardize their religion to suit their personal agenda.
