The Socratic Method: Still Good To Use?

Socrates developed his method of learning another man's position, he asked a question and he continued to probe and put forth assumptions for the other to agree with or refuse. Through this, Socrates could learn where a man stood on any issue.

I think that the Socratic method is excellent for learning where other people stand on many issues. But, whenever you actually start trying to learn where someone stands on an issue by using the Socratic method, the person you are attempting to learn about seems to get extremely agitated.

I understand that most do not like having their opinions and views changed or refused, but they always seem to get angry. Just me, or is it?
