Fewer Turkish women wearing headscarf – study

Fewer Turkish women are wearing the Muslim headscarf and fewer Turks generally support a state based on Islamic sharia law than a few years ago, according to a study by an independent think-tank published on Tuesday.

I believe I posted an article about a Turkish women who was wearing bikini at a beach and was attacked by headscarf wearing women. I do not this is all of Turkey, but it was the first and only piece I read about this type of things happening. Is it common? Or was it just a sensational story the western media pick up?

Yes it was a sensational story, otherwise even turkish media wouldn't show such interest, it covered the headlines more than 1 week. it also unveiled that problem started because of a thing other than being veiled or not, but attacked woman said that she was attacked just because of bikini.
Yesterday , there was a protest , a local administration of a region in istanbul banned drinking alchool in public places like parks. Than a group of ppl, went to that park with beers and wines to protest it. Than it unveiled that there is no european country that permits drinking alchool in such public places. But protests still goes on with increasing number of protesters because ppl think such ban is related with islamic minded administration.

OK got it--I just wanted to know how things were shaping up, because here in the West anything that would show Muslims in a bad light seems to be a popular story. Thanks for the info.
