This thread is still active lol. NO ANIMAL's ARE NOT HUMANS! They are K-9's and Felines and other stuff ending in ine's! But they are not humans.

Biggest reason of all they are not classed the same as Humans are, Therefor they are not humans.

I don't know Locke, sometimes humans have more animalistic and carnal tendencies than the animals. We might not class them as humans, but that doesn't stop us from being animals.

Some animals have "personalities", but none are as deep and meaningful as those of people. I honestly don't understand why some people think that life of an animal (a non-human animal...) is as valuable as the life of a human. Guess it's one of those things I'll just never get!

What most people preseive a "animal" to be is a living self aware organism. So yes humans do infact classify as a animal. But animals do not classify as human, just like how human's do no classify as fellines. Also when used in a sentence commonly the word animal referse to a other non Human speicies. That is not to say that we are not animals, Cause i for one am a beast.

I seem to be very smart in all things except self-knowledge. Well, I'm not very interesting, so why would I want to know about myself? I'm happy with that

I wonder how many of the people posting in this thread have close relationships with animals? (keep it clean, I don't mean THAT kind of close) You can't judge if you don't know the subject.

How do you know they don't have that ability? They can't tell you. You can only assume things. Your inference could be completely wrong.
They could be self-reflecting in front of your face and you couldn't possibly know it.
If you couldn't talk, how do you think you would be acting? Do you think it would affect your behaviour?
They can't prove it by speaking, they could still be doing it.

I agree with Scots Chick there, you can't prove that animals do not have higher brain function nor that they are incapable of abstract thought. Also, humans come under the class of 'animals', so if animals are unable to have abstrat thought, then shouldn't we be unable?
