What is the point of dividing it by zero when that is the exact opposite of infinity, and btw, 3.1 divided by zero is in fact infinity, not 3.1, any primary school teacher can tell you that!!!

No, we can know that there are an infinite number of planets because there is an infinite amount of space possible.
|
This could change tommorow. We do not know that the universe is going to expand forever, hence we do not know with certainty there is an infinite supply of them.

True that, but then we would need and infinite number of people to inhabit an infinite number of planets, infinity divided by infinity equals 1, therefore 100% of the universe is actually populated, as someone does not occupy the space next to me this statement cannot be true so we can assume there is a finite number of people populating the universe with an infinite number of worlds.
|
This still does not show that life does not exist. Even if there were a "finite number of people inhabiting the universe", you've basically just conceded my point. That statement suggests life outside of the planet or already here on this planet, but life nonetheless.

Yes, but once you divide the total number of inhabited planets by the total number of planets, we can see that the average population of the universe is 0.
As for the universe continually expanding, when it stops expands, we go from the big bang to the big crunch, and time will start going backwards, death will be eradicated, war will be a beautiful thing, hundreds will spring back to life, George Costanza will get what he wants and then and then, when the Universe finally becomes the sixe of an atom, the Universe will undergo the Big Bang again.

Actually, it was just a desperate attempt at a big joke which actually has no logical answer because it is impossible to prove or disprove what the other says.
You can't tell me with all assurances that the universe is not infinite just as i can't tell you with all assurances that it is.
Basically, the real underlying reason for this thread was to show that people are more willing to stick to their beliefs than to listen to reason (not that either side had reason).
