Too bad no one told all those Christians, Muslims 'n other folks that keep fightin' by orders of THEIR God. Even that li'l idiot in the WH believes he heard God speak to him, there must be a God...coz he talks to idiots.

Let me just start off by saying that I think that before you can criticize religion, and how and why people believe in it, you have to call into account what religion is based on. It's called 'faith' for a reason. That's all religion really is is having faith in a series of answers, to questions that can be otherwise unanswered.

Don't get me wrong, I myself am not religious at all. I don't even know where to begin disproving religion. As far back as I care to recollect, I've been tought indirectly that religion is made up.. Credible text from history books (that are based off proven events, unlike pretty much all religious documents) portray religion as a cash scam (in a nutshell) and that the position as the head of the church, i.e. 'the pope' was just a role that held power amongst people. If you didnt agree with the pope, he would excommunicate you, much like how and why religious people with strong faith can't be swayed today. It's because religion has a polarizing effect on people that choose to believe it.

The bible wasnt written by god.. It was written by man.. Since the begining of time mankind has made up stories simply to entertain people.. The bible is jsut a collection of those stories written by people that glorify deities like jesus claiming that 'his touch heals blind people'.

In lamens terms, I don't believe in religion because it's impossible to convince me too.. Nothing about religion makes sense.. They're just 'magical' answers to questions that people cant answer, so they choose an easy way out and make things up that you HAVE to abide by or else your stuck in pergetory..

But I agree with you marv, religion does make people kinder, but it also clouds their judgement and logical sense of thinking.. my favorite analogy of this is whenever in star wars when yodas force powers were clouded by the dark side :-p

If religious people believe that God, Satan, Heaven, Hell, etc. are as real as anything else, for instance, their car, they can see and feel their car. Can they see and feel any of those other things? Have they ever? Of course not.

Their idea of what Heaven is like: No sorrow, no diseases; "And they all lived (so to speak) happily ever after." Just like in a fairy tale.

Once again, religion isn't based on what you can see.. its based off of faith like i said.. you cant see it or touch it, you just believe its there..

but anyways. i dont want to defend religion like that because i think it wastes peoples lives adn keeps them from bieng productive, all im trying to say is if your going to talk about religion, you have to know about religion...

Yeah. There's really no point in them trying to disprove religion or call it irrational. Do they really think they're going to change someone's mind? They only succeed in making themselves look like intolerant fools.

i think its pretty logical to disprove religion, Religion and god are two completely different things. religion has been used as means of control since its creation, if god does exist, its pretty arrogant to assume we know what he wants for us, No book written by man could ever tell us that

And if god exists, and so does the devil, Wouldnt it seem more like the devil created religion as a means to divide and spread hatred?
