Yeah, too bad we don't. The fact is, either you have rule of the people or you have tyranny of the minority. Personally, I don't think much of tyranny.

Political parties are a necessary tool for those in power to remain in power. None of them want the people to actually understand how government works, they want to tell them how it works.

So you would have no problem with mob rule?

I'd take a republic over a democracy any day. If people with subpar intelligence want to rule themselves and hurt themselves, that's their business. When they start hurting me and ruling me, that's my business.

So its pretty much your business at this point, right?
I wouldn't have a problem with political parties, or only having two for that matter, if they were not so GD retarted. It would be one thing if they actually gave a rats stinking ass about the citizens, but, just like the border issue for example, you know the dems DO want them flooding in, but more to the point when you hear Bush talk about the topic you can almost hear him thinking to himself "God I hope they don't catch on that I really don't give a shit..... geeze how long will it take for them to leave me alone about this?"
Another example is this whole election season, I don't really see why someone like me, in Alabama should know everything about a candidate running in Ohio since it's a local election. I do realize the importance and ramifications of elections like in Ohio, but if the politicians are going to be on the news every night cramming shit about their opponents down our throat, at least make it about the issues and their policies instead of Senator So-and-So using a chocolate dildo on his cat. I'm not defending Foley by the way, he's not an issue seeing as how the R's got rid of him. All I'm saying is that the priorities should be swapped.
1) My opponents stance on the border.
2) My opponents stance on the war.
3) My opponents stance on taxes and social programs.
4) Chocolate dildo.

I'm in Alabama and Jeff Sessions isn't up for re-election till 2008 and Richard Shelby isn't up for re-election till 2010. So the only elections I really have to worry about are state elections, which doesn't really affect any of you, unless of coarse you are an Alabamian as well. The only state race I've really been looking at is for Governor and it looks like Bob Reilly has it tied up.

Neato.
There has been so much state election BS going on around here it is getting annoying. Like I said in the other forum Bug, I'm relatively new at this, especially state and local stuff, it's easier to learn about national politics, but I have been quasi-keeping up with state/local on the local news talk radio and some newspaper. I live right down the road from Slocomb and have heard of Mrs. Smith, so I'll read up on her and see what she's about.
My best friend that I grew up with and went to college with is from that area and last named Smith, I'll ask him if he is related to her as well.
Have you heard of Brian Smith?

As far as Alabama being one of the poorest states, that may be, and probably is true, but a) most people are not bad off at all and b) if they are it is more than likely their fault. It gets me how much other states, especially up north, think that we are all back water inbred, nascar watching, tobacco chewing retards and to some extent that is true, but thanks to a program called COPS we get to see that these same socio-economically challenged individuals live all over the country.... even up north. Believe it or not we have paved roads, malls (with Starbucks), horseless carriages, "dem new fangled" computers, and also, probably the most important invention of all, Scotch..... From Scotland! I'm proud to be from the south. My southern heretage has taught me simple things like being courteous to women and why it is not good to throw babies in dumpsters. As far as the whole racial thing, for the most part blacks and whites get along pretty well down here, in fact I have met black people, when I was getting book lern'in at coledge, from up north and said that they noticed that white people down here were much less racist than the ones from up north in places like Illinois and Ohio. Of coarse, if I'm not mistaken, the anti-black/anti-jew headquarters for the American Nazis is in Ohio. As for us being stoopid, I assure you we have just as many smarmy self absorbed pseudo-intellectual liberal numb nuts as anywhere else in the country...... well, except for maybe San Fransico. Any how, sorry for the rant, but that stereotype really burns my grits. By the way grits ARE pretty good, you should try them.
Anyhow as far as our state leaders are concerned, Bob Riley had done a pretty good job for the state and he has announced his plan called 2010 to take us to the future, whatever the hell that means..... I guess we'll finally get those phone lines I've been hearing about. I haven't read what all it is supposed to include, but I'm pretty sure it is the usual bringing in automobile plants so we will have 200 more assembly line jobs. Woo Hoo!!!!! Any how, I'm pretty sure Riley is an ass hat but may be the best we can do for a while... Even though he said on camera, "when you have government handing out billions of dollars in no-bid contracts, it is either the most corrupt government or the most inefficient government" in 2002, and then, once elected gave out billions of dollars in no-bid contracts.....go figure.
As far as the NAACP and ACLU. I don't have a problem with the NAACP, I find it odd how now-a-days with our so called racial equality, a race of people would have cause for an organization like the NAACP. While I find it a little self-fellating, I'm way too busy to care. And as far as the ACLU...... GO NAMBLA!!!!!! What a joke. They were relevant at one time.... now they just pull stuff out of their ass to stay in bu$ine$$. Hmmmmm, kind of like Al Sharpton.
Again, sorry about the rant.

LOL! I'm related to just about everyone in Slocomb.
My brother went to Auburn University, and while he was there he pissed her off with a letter he wrote to her. I forget what the spat was about, something to do with the university.
