Beliefs of the U.S. public about evolution and creation

This source, based upon gallup polls and other surveys explains that:

Quote:
The creationist view seems to have received increasing support, perhaps because of the elderly who represent a gradually increasing part of the U.S. population. At the same time, support for naturalistic evolution has also increased. The nation is becoming more polarized as belief in the compromise position -- that evolution happened , but under God's guidance -- has dropped.
Also note the huge difference between scientists and non-scientists. Basically, people who know less about science are the ones who don't believe in evolution.

Yea I hate to say I'm against the religious hacks on this one. . .

Human Genome Shows Proof of Recent Evolution, Survey Finds

Yes its only a theory, but in the way of theories this one is a master. If as a religious person you can't meld that with your religious dogma, then you are very uncreative. Most American Catholics have and many others have as well, it just looks very foolish going against something with so much evidence, clearly this is how God choses to work.

Yes, I agree with you. The concept that manages to unite both science and religion is called "theistic evolution" I think. Creationsits hate it as it says that evolution and god are not contradictional concepts but rather that evolution fits into Gods divine plans.

This "theistic evolution" is also what I think most religious people in Europe believe in.

Is this another world for the "Intelligent Design" kind of theory?

Seeing that the Bible has two different stories of the creation of the world did more or less convince me that it is impossible to follow the Bible in the most literal sense.

If "theistic evolution" is another word for ID? No.
ID is just creationism in disguise. Theistic evolution does not put evolution in question or trying to replace it as ID or Creationism does, it just says that God wants the world to work that way.

Those who believe in "theistic evolution" don't think a literal interpretation of the genisis in the bible is the right thing to do.
