He does not need a cause. I can't find anywhere in the Bible that God said He had a cause that created Him.

No, no cause that created him, only a cause that he created. That rouses more questions, how could he have been made? He couldn't have. So that is a wonder. How would have time started?

I don't know. In the Bible God says there are many things that will be revealed when Christ returns.

How do we know that Christ will return? I see no way of explaining the answer to that question in words.

Santa,
I'm not going to get dragged into this debate here, though I may involve myself in other religious debates in the future on this forum. I have found that fundamentalists who hold the Bible to be absolute truth won't listen to any arguments that assert otherwise no matter how logically sound. But I do have a question for you... I noticed your inclusion of a quote by Thomas Jefferson in your signature; are you aware of his deistic beliefs, of the fact that he wrote his own version of the Bible due to his belief that much of the supernatural occurrences in the Bible were illogical and such? What do you think of his views and why would someone so deeply tied to a fundamentalist view of Christianity quote someone like Jefferson who was so deeply opposed to fundamentalism?

"The problem of mythology is to relate that found truth to the actual living of a life. The myth has to deal with the cosmology of today, and it's no good when it's based on a cosmology that's out of date. That's one of our problems. I don't see any conflict between religion and science. Religion has to accept the science of the day and penetrate it to the mystery. The conflict is between the science of 2000 B.C. and the science of 2000 A.D., and this is one of the problems with our tradition: where our inherited mythology, let's say our Judeo-Christian tradition relates to the Near East in the first millenium B.C. and it has nothing to do with life here and everything has to be explained. A mythological image that has to be explained to the brain is not working. When you move through a culture that is so alien to your own that the images don't click off any response, any recognition, then you're out of sync." - Joseph Campbell

to quote the bible is basically nonsense. does not determine how much you know about the bible. the bible is interesting literature. literature that has been written since the summarians. the bible is basically composed of ancient literature, mixed with philosophy, especially when it comes to the afterlife soul/spirit. there was no god who came down and dictated what the bible should say. all that is in the bible has been written before.
here are some examples. the epic of gilgamesh. compare to noahs ark, and the flood.
there are also many parallells between the code of hamaurabi and the bible. in the code there was one god. marduk. it is also interesting to know the first god to be faught over in the name of god was marduk. compare the ten commandments also. the one thing the code had that the bible did not was respect and equal rights for women.
egyptian book of the dead. another interseting book to compare to the bible.
book of the dead 'Not have I despised god...Not have I killed...Not have I fornicated...Not have I despoiled the thing of the god...not have I defiled the wife of a man...Not have I cursed god...Not have I borne false witness'.
the bible exodus Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain....Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery...Thou shalt not bear false witness against they neighbor..." these are just a few examples among many.
i view faith like i view someone being passionately in love with someone. even if the love is not reciprocated by the other person. that person in love still believes there is something there. which is basically their perception that has drifted beyond reality. sorry to say. love for god is the same way.
in my opinion the only thing to believe in is nature. that is the only thing that holds TRUTH and the only thing that gives and never asks for anything back.
