We have been fighting over scarce resources for more than 100 years, yet no new ideas about maintaining human species survival have ever taken hold. Pay no attention to the imminent collapse of the human species. Yes, you are allowed to cast about like a chicken with it's head cut-off. The reason for this attitude is simple. There are those in positions of power that have made decisions to ensure the complete destruction of all human life. Nuclear weapons and rampant industrialization have given us the quick and slow way to die. The media-military-industrial complex has the foolish idea that some human beings will survive the extinction holocaust. It hasn't occurred to them that maybe there are those who would ensure the demise of any potential survivor plans.

No, I don't think you're right here. Survival I think may depend more on our ability to move beyond conventional thinking.

We do not need to always follow our baser instincts - fear, revenge, anger, greed and so on. We can also take a step back and start to look at what will provide the best solution.

That may require some changes in our thinking but nothing is set in stone.

Every person has a nature-given and undeniable right to life. This directly translates to a nature-given and undeniable right to goods that are vital for survival, most namely water and basic food. Anyone denying a person or a group of persons the right to these two unless himself in a situation where giving them up or sharing them would endanger his survival is committing a crime against humanity. "It's my water" is a kind of argument I'm used to hearing from school children.
