Insane idea for the US

I actually thought of this 4 years ago during the last joke of an election. (IMO)
I don't believe this will ever work, but curiosity deems that I ask for opinions, thoughts.

The country seems awfully divided with all signs of continuing to be so.
What if we were to actually divide the country?

Take 20 states and declare them Republican-
Take 20 states and declare them Democrat-
Take 10 states and declare them Independant-

Whichever party the state is, would have elected officials from only that party, thus laws, policies, etc..from that party.
One does not have to be affiliated with said party to live there. (ie..a proclaimed democrat could if he so chooses, live in a republican state)

We could even go so far as to have three federal govt's, I suppose. Elect a president of each set of states.
I realize this would create, in essence, three countries instead of one, but it's been boggling my mind for some time now so I hope to boggle some out there. (Just here to help)

Which states would you guys choose for which party?
If your current state of residence became a state for a party you don't support, would you move?

How about one state for the Libertarians? We'll call it Freedonia.

That's difficult, but also unfair for the people in states which are strongly in one direction. There ARE democrats in Texas, for example, and would they not lose their voice if Texas were to officially become a Republican state?

The idea is that they would be relocated - Sort of the Joe Biden Plan for the US.

Oh. Well, that's no better, is it? There is something extremely wrong with the idea of forcing people to move if they want to have a political voice.

Yes, there are democrats in Texas, I be one.
And yes, they would potentially lose their voice in helping decide policy and laws etc.. that is one of the reasons I posed the question, "would you leave your state?"
I honestly don't know if I would.
There are already states other than my own who give folks legal rights I'd like to have. (marrying my Sweetie, smoking pot every once in a while, etc..)
But I am a native born Texan and while I have lived elsewhere, this will always feel like home to me.
I suppose I would have to decide which were more important to me and mine; remaining in a state that has been home to me, or moving to a state that I feel better represents my personal style of government.

But, since this is my fantasy or whatever it is, I should like to claim Texas for the democrats.

(yeah, like that would ever work)

I am sick of The United States of Texas! Smaller government is not the providence of or even a tenet of the Republican philosophy. Consolidation of power is. Let the states tax its residents and let the federation tax the states. Do away with the IRS. ...the distinction between the parties is becoming increasingly ambiguous. The advent of the Super Delegate seems to be of the Republican ethos.

Good Lord, I only just now claimed Texas for the democrats and already you're sick of it?
