WORLD UNITE
I am writing to you about something I feel is very important. I hope after you read this you will want to help. If you read the papers or watch the news you will already know how crazy the world is. We have wars in the middle east, tribal conflict in Kenya, and here in the west their is drugs, prostitution, and gang violence. All these things make me wonder what will become of mankind if we do not change our ways.
I began to think how could people change things for the better. Then it came to me prayer was the answer. If EVERYONE prayed for the same thing God would answer us. So why do we not have a WORLD PRAYER DAY, asking God for forgiveness, and world peace. The date for this event is March 17 2010 3:00 p.m. GMT. Since this will be a worldwide event and we all want to be united in prayer, for some it will not be March 17. It may mean some people will be praying in the early hours of the morning. For others it will be late in the evening. The year 2010 was chose so that hopefully by that time everbody around the globe will have heard of WORLD PRAYER DAY. People can pray wherever they want at their place of worship, or at home, or at work. It does not matter where you pray just so long as you do so. Though all religions are different they all have the same base of good moral standards. I do not believe any religion will oppose this idea.
You may think to have WORLD PRAYER DAY is impossible, but I believe it is possible if properly advertised. That is why we need help in advertising the idea. This can be done by you posting this info on other sites/forums. By telling family and friends and then they to can forward the news of WORLD PRAYER DAY.
Prayer is for everyone so everyone should try to pray. Remember we are all sinners.

Are you friggin kidding me?
How exactly would everyone sat talking to themselves change anything whatsoever?
Im going to be very frank and honest. There is no God. You are all alone and one day you will die and be nothing. No heaven and no hell. Im not worried about death at all, I was dead for billions of years before my birth and it didnt bother me one bit.
World Prayer Day would achieve nothing. The world would do better to stop lying to themselves and renounce their faiths. Religion is the cause for so much death and violence.
'remember we are sinners'???????????????????
According to who or what? The bible? a book that includes talking snakes, worldwide floods, zombies and voices from a higher being? it sounds like something JR Tolken would write about.
Please people do not waste your lives with religion. Live you life by your own morals and be happy. Your not getting another life, so enjoy this one.

It's been a while since I saw such a sad post on here. Just because you don't believe there's a good that gives you no right to attack another fellow poster like you are doing.

I can't think of anything more useless than a World Prayer Day. If the Almighty isn't prepared, on principle, to use his supernatural power to intervene and prevent or reduce human suffering, then why should he be persuaded to change things for the better only when thousands of people are united in prayer?

Im attacking nobody, im attacking his ideals yes as its his right to attack mine. If people want to spend their lives worshipping a god without no evidence to prove it exists then by all means do so. The world would be better without such nonsense.
Besides if his faith is strong enough and gods on his side, he should have no need to worry about a little contructive critizism.
IF there was a god, dont you think it would like that its creations are clever and logical enough to question its existence, rather than blindly following it like sheep.

You basically called him a psychopath, potentially even schizophrenic, by insinuating he (and many others) talks to himself. You have every right to criticize his beliefs, but no right at all to criticize him, which you did.

The difference between schizophrenia and religion is numbers. One man talks to himself they say is crazy, one million people talk to themselves its called prayer.
Of course if he could tell me that while praying he has had a two way conversation with God then ill retract my statements. Im gonna guess though that god has never answered.

I see life as a test, or as a series of trials. God does act in mysterious ways. However he will grant us nothing if we don't ask for it. Sometimes we pray for something and may not be answered in the way we had hoped, this does not mean God does not hear us. We are always being tested and we use our free will in however we please. Sometimes we do that which pleases God and other times we displease him.
atheistwoody there are more people who have faith in something than there is atheists. Now maybe we are all crazy, or maybe you are the one who is crazy for believing in nothing. The reason for this is because deep down ever since the begining man has always known there is more than just him there is something divine. If you ask me to believe in nothing is sad, because if you believe in nothing, what is the point to anything. I don't honestly think you believe in nothing, otherwise why bother enduring the hardships of life. If you think there is nothing after this life you may as well shoot yourself the next time you feel depressed or unhappy. Or why bother sticking to the laws of society why not just do whatever you please.

You are quite wrong. I endure the hardships of life because there is also happiness and fun. I stick to the majority of laws of society as it is my best interests to do so.
You seem to think that the fact there are more people with faith than without automatically makes you right. It doesnt, it means there are more gullible people than there are ungullible.
Since the beginning of time man has been afraid of death, people can not comprehend the idea of being nothing. It scares them and so they grab hold of any ideas that means they dont have to think about it.
You want to know why religion is so popular? Brainwashing by parents, fear of death, lack of education. I would be more inclined to believe in a god if there was a scrap of evidence to support its existence.
You say you think its sad for me to believe in nothing? I believe in life. I believe we are here simply due to a process of natural selection, there is no reason, no fate, no great mystery. To be honest I feel sorry for you, in your coffin, all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Why is it you have atheist in your username, and yet you come on to a thread that is under the topic of religion. Are you trying to enlighten us people of faith by telling there is nothing divine after this life. Are you so proud of your atheism you want everybody to be atheists. I think religion rouses your curiousity because deep down you believe there is something after this life. Otherwise why would you come on to this thread in the first place, why not leave us in our ignorant bliss.
