Is saying "that's bigoted, ignorance, absurdity, lies" a substantive argument?

Redcake is right in this case, because that’s a mendacious lie that incites hatred and violence towards Jews. Of course, any one can criticize Israel, as long as it is truthful and legitimate, but repeating mendacious lies that are going to elicit hatred and even violence towards Jews isn’t legitimate criticism, it’s rank bigotry, and ignorance is no excuse because the reader who may be influenced into harming a Jew may not know or realize that you are ignorant.

Technically my point wasn't to criticize them, but point out that our support for them is one of the major reasons why we fight this war.
That’s another lie also that is based on ignorance.

Quote:
Regardless of whether or not supporting Israel is the right thing to do from your perspective you have to admit it is understandable for them to hate us. What if someone helped somebody else take something that you thought was rightfully yours.
Dude Muslims are going to hate us no matter what we do because we are kafir unbelievers. When they hate us they are just being pious and good Muslims and obeying what their Koran dictates that they do. With respect to helping somebody take something that you thought was rightfully yours, you better go back to the drawing board, because you are repeating absurdities that have no basis in fact!

Does being against some aspects of Israeli foreign policy like imprisoning women and children make me anti-semitic?
Link please?

Would opposing China's needless executions of 10,000 people a year make me Anti-Chinese?
Only if you were lying!

JoeBlough, care to up your game a bit? Do you have anything else to field besides calling his argument lies, absurdities, bigotry and ignorance? Throwing a bunch of names at his argument is not a counter-argument.

What's his argument? He doesn't want to own up to the problems behind the statements ...and by the way, I didn't even touch on the fact that he called it Arab Holy Land. Unfortunately, lies, absurdities, bigotry and ignorance are the best way to describe that type of statement.

If it’s not lies then let him prove that they are not lies. I mean if he is going to make assertions that conceivably could possibly induce people to hatred and even violence, the least he ought to be able to do is back up his accusations with facts and prove that they are real and true. I mean if they are not true, then why wouldn’t it be considered bigotry and absurd? As a matter fact, in this case I already know for a fact that the Jews didn’t take land from the Arabs. Further, if he didn’t know any better and thought that he was correct, why wouldn’t that be ignorance? I mean if I’m going to make statements that possibly could incite hatred or violence, I’m going to make sure that I can back them up; otherwise I will keep my mouth shut. Shouldn’t we all?

No they're not. If you think they are wrong, then show why. Calling names shows nothing.

No, it doesn't work that way. You show that they are lies. If not, then just state that you disagree. We can't have the forum filled up with this:

Your comment is ignorant, garbage, crap, nonsense, foolishness, idiocy, stupidity, ridiculousness, blah blah blah

That's no good.

How about since they are so bigotted and absurd you just show how they are with your facts and reasoning rather than just calling names? Should be pretty easy since they are only "bigotted and absurd" as you claim.

Wait a minute I didn’t make the assertion in question. He did so it’s up to him to back up his assertions and if he can’t then he should apologize. I don’t have anything against legitimate criticism because lord knows no one is perfect and no country is perfect!

Do you arbitrarily make assertions that could possibly incite hatred and violence towards people without regard to whether or not they are true? I mean if that’s the way the rules are going to be set forth, then in reality anyone could say anything derogatory about anyone without regard to whether it’s true or not. In fact, I could make untruthful statements and pretend that I didn’t know that they were lies when in reality I did know!

What name calling? I said that they were lies and absurd, which is the truth. That’s not name calling, that’s pointing out the truth and, by the way, lies means, untrue and absurd means, ridiculous, and if they weren’t untrue, they wouldn’t be ridiculous. Additionally, what is bigotry if it isn’t a derogatory remark or lies made about specific groups that incite hatred and violence? It’s up to him to defend his assertions not me because I didn’t make any and when he does I certainly will point it out if he’s wrong and I will surely apologize if he’s right!

That's not the assertion in question and I never said you made the remark that you are now referring to. The "assertion in question" is your reply which had no substance but was mainly just to call the opening post "ignorance" "bigotry" "lies" and "absurdities." Rather than just call those names it would be better to prove that it is all those things with facts and reason.

Understandably, this is a politics forum and people will hold very different opinions, but we need to have some sort of guidelines for the quality of responses that are given.

So what you are saying is that his belief that Israel took land from the Palestinians is "derogatory?" What if I say that being pro-life over abortion is "derogatory?" Can I then lambast someone anytime they say they are pro-life?

He went far beyond saying Israel took land from Palestinians and made derogatory comments which aren't acceptable as a form of opinion. Since when did the right to an opinion absolve one from bigotry when birthed from ignorance?

This comment has no meaning. All you've done is thrown around the word "derogatory" "bigotry" and "ignorance" without justifying it. That's just name-calling.

That goes for you too, man. Let's keep the personal accusations of hate, etc out of this thread.
