The best song is "It Wasn't Me" by Shaggy, although I have to admit it's nostalgic. One of the songs I heard a million times in my youth.

Nah, nostalgia for me is anything by Seal, especially 'Kiss by a Rose' and 'Prayer for the Dying', though, Shaggy's still good.

Oh damn, I have a copy of Ray Parker's "Jamie" on a 45.

And pleaz dont make apologies for liking rap. I get so tired of that. I love just about any genre of music, but all genres also have their share of garbage.

And even though alot of today's rappers are lyrically challenged, rap/hiphop is a forever love of mine. No apology necessary.

I'll say what I want. Some rap sucks ass. I made the mistake of buying Fabolous' album and there was only one good song on it, which was actually a remake of an earlier song he did (Trade it All). There is some rap that I've heard that I just cannot stand and there's a lot of fake idiots out there like Ja Rule. Southern dirty rap is just trash. If you noticed, most of the rap on my playlist is old. I really don't give a shit how tired you are of hearing how a lot of rap sucks. Most of the rap that I've heard recently, SUCKS ASS. I APOLOGIZE FOR HOW IT IS TOTAL SHIT. It's not like the late 80's, and 90's rap that I love.

Talking Please accept my apology WEB

Didn't mean to strike a nerve. I just feel that whenever people speak about rap, quite often someone feels the need to offer an explanation as to why they like it. That explanation usually never procedes other types of music. And I just decided a while back( while back cuz my ass is probably much older than u) that if you like something, just like the shit.

This conversation might not even interest you, but a question I've often wanted to ask folks is what makes music garbage or shit or whatever in your opinion.

Music serves so many different purposes. Not everything is meant to be deep. Sometimes it has no other purpose than to be FUN. That applies to rock, rap, r&b, country, whatever. I look at music to make me feel something. It can have a deep, thought-provoking political message. It can make you want to cry over your recent break-up. It can make you want to say "screw love i just wanna f#%k u right now." It can take you back to "back in the day." It can make you want to get up and dance. It can make feel something deeply spiritual. It can make you want to bob your head. It can invoke a feeling of pride in one's school, favorite team, country. It can be motivating during a work-out. It can help to calm you and assist in meditation. It can allow you to express rage. It can tell a story during a ballet or opera. And sometimes its only purpose is to provide a laugh.

I love music and can't imagine life without it and, for me, that includes rap.

East Coast, Harlem, West Coast, Midwest, and the Dirty South. Sugar Hill Gang to Whodini(I love you Ectsacy) to The Ghetto Boys to Tupac to Too Short to LL Cool J to Common to Luda to Public Enemy to Dougie Fresh to Slick Rick to Kanye to Queen Latifah to T.I. to David Banner. You know what...I even have fond memories of Too Live Crew...there I said it...this 38yr old white woman loves her rap damnit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will agree that creativity is a problem, for sure. But I just don't think one should throw a whole group of music (talkn bout the dirty here) under the bus. But that's just my opinion.

You didn't strike a nerve. Your comment was just arrogant, and it was received the way arrogant comments normally are, regardless of the subject matter. It is hard to defend a lot of rap, because it sucks, just like it would be hard to defend a candidate who sucks (let's use Mitt Romney as an example, or Ralph Nader). I haven't listened to much rap in the past few months, and I listen to much less rap than I used to. Not because it sucks, but because I like light music (i.e. contemporary jazz) more these days.

I will give people like 50 Cent points for style, even though he does not posess the qualities that I like the most in good rapper (i.e. being "super lyrical" like Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Nas and Jay-z are). When I was listening to rap recently it sucks, so I acknowledge that it sucks. If that is a problem for your agenda then tough nuts for you.
