Unhappy Our National Bridges/Highways

(disclaimer) - hope this is the right category for this thread, cause none of the others seemed to really fit:

I have a suggestion on how we can fund a program to inspect, repair and make safe our Nation's Bridges and Highways. There is no doubt, after the recent tragedy in Minnesota, that this should be a priority for our Congress and the Administration.

So: Every elected official in Washington should revoke their personal "ear marks" pork barrle funding for "pet projects" and designate that the exact sum they had "ear marked" be placed in a special fund to inspect, repair and make safe our Nation's Bridges and Highways. As for those who will be upset that they didn't get the pork barrel funds they were expecting from their Congressman, the Congressmen only have to explain that there are times when it is necessary to act for "the greater good". Besides, I would suspect that the vast majority of the 50 States have bridges in need of repair and I know for sure they ALL have Highways and they probably are in need of repair as well.

Do I believe that Congress could act in such a reasonable and bi-partisan way? Well, no, not really.................I'm not quite sure Congress or the Administration understands the concept of "the greater good".

sigh..............
