Illegal Racing Crackdown

Quote:
RIALTO, Calif. - Charles Hoang winced when the whoosh went out of the tires. Daniel Maldonado took pictures with a digital camera as glass exploded and rained down to the ground.

The cars the teens had so meticulously souped up and tricked out were crushed Wednesday as part of a crackdown on illegal street racing in Southern California.

"That's my heart, my dream," said Hoang, 18, of Chino, who was surrounded by friends as his 1998 Acura Integra was put into a compactor. "That's my girlfriend, the love of my life. The cops can crush my car, but they can't crush my memories."

I think that this crackdown on crime is good. This is a dangerous sport, and though exciting it lowers the standard of the great country of the USA. If this thread should go elsewhere, please change it.

Street racing ,huh, well I got to agree with you on this one Inde.
But to crush a work of art like tricked out souped up car, well my heart is heavy at such actions.
I still remember a Road Runner I had with a full race cam and a 6 pack she was a beauty.
Couldn't they just strip the car and sell the parts"well the ones that's legal", or maybe use it for an undercover operation.

I have a good idea- these cars are made for street racing, right? So the cops should paint them to look like cop cars, and now they have 6 new free cop cars!

When I used the term redneck I wasn't thinking about the sun if you know what I mean.
Hippies and rednecks some feuds die hard.
