Personally, it is just an academic debate to me. It's interesting. I would by no means use the truth of any such argument to undermine the Christian religion. I don't see what the point of that would be.

Let me elaborate a bit on that last post. I think Christianity is a good thing generally. I would not be interested in any roundabout ways to undermine Christian political interest groups, by say......showing that Jesus never existed. That's too Machiavellian and way to mean-spirited. People can worship whatever God they wish. I personally consider all religions that focus on an individual (i.e. Jesus or Mohammad, etc) to be inherently flawed. But I think a religion goes beyond just the worship of one individual. The essence of a religion is the code of morality it fosters. I see nothing wrong with Christianity's moral code, so I would in no way try to undermine it, regardless of whether Jesus exists or not.

It should be of no particular interest to anyone to undermine Christianity, anymore so than it should be to undermine Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism or Judaism, or Shintoism or any other religion.

I'm a muslim but even muslim belive in Jesus but the only thing differen from the christian are Jesus never die,he is brought to heaven and will only come back to earth when dooms day and he's not a god but a prophet.Other then that the story almost the same.

I had a look at the Jesuspuzzle website. It claimed that the earlier documents talk about Christ, but not that his name was Jesus. However, it does say they talk about Christ being crucified etc. So they are talking about a person. If they are not talking about Jesus, then they must be talking about someone else. Why would they change the original Christ to someone else? Wouldn't every Christian know who the original Christ was, and notice that suddenly people are talking about someone else?

I also don't see why people would make it up anyway, since they got executed for it. People start cults to make lots of money, which they didn't, they got oppressed. So why would they want to?

Man, that's some pretty bogus stuff there. It's one thing to deny Christ's deity, but it's something entirely different to deny that He even existed, and it's even more bogus to deny that the 12 apostles existed, especially after the 1st century historian, Flavius Josephus mentioned them in his writings. What many people don't understand, is that we have numerous letters from the early church fathers that have been preserved and shed light on the attitude of the early church. Some of these people were the direct disciples of the apostles. Folks like Ignatius, Polycarp, and Clement. But perhaps they didn't really exist either. It's just a great big illusion. As a matter of fact, the entire Bible was just written by a group of guys who got together and decided to fool the entire world. Oh, but wait a minute, that's not possible! Because most people look at the history of Palestine and understand that the Old Testament, along with Judaism, existed centuries before the New Testament (whose authors claim that Jesus fulfills the prophetic verses of the Old Testament). But perhaps that's a conspiracy too. I mean, after all, despite the overwhelming archeological evidence that supports the existence of the Jewish Temple, the Muslim Wafk publicly declared that neither the 1st or 2nd temples never existed. Perhaps they are on to something.

We may as well start questioning the existence of Socrates too. I mean, how much proof do we have that he existed?

There are noted scholars who support this debate. This is serious, and meant to stir questions, as this is a political DEBATE forum. Remember, question the answers, dont always believe what you told. You could be civilized and use facts to refute these points, and back yours, since you think Jesus did exist. But I see you took the mature route. Pat yourself on the back, your arguments for jesus existing are SO compelling.
