I was looking around youtube last week when I found a video from a guy who believes that Bush will suspend the election this year by allowing, or even orchestrating, another terrorist attack on the US, bigger than September 11, and will implement martial law thus creating a police state. He then called for all viewers to prepare for the war to come by hoarding weapons and supplies. He is prepared for an all out revolution. I laughed a little bit and started reading the comments. Most of the comments were actually cheers and statements of solidarity. Evidently there are several people out there who are expecting that this will happen.

So, lets say for the sake of argument that martial law was declared and Bush set himself in office or "an undetermined" amount of time. Our civil liberties are null and void for reasons of protection; curfews, surveillance, "your papers please", etc.

I want to know what you would do. Would it be on like Donkey Kong? Would you fight to restore the republic or would you support the state and hope for a positive outcome?

I would totally get the eff out of here if I could. Underground railroad style. I'm not fighting for anything. I'd probably end up being one of those crazy secret radicals in one of those movie-like operations and end up getting shot or something right before I jump heroically over the border into Canada.

I'd like to begin by saying that whoever made that video is a moron and I in no way believe that that will actually happen.

Hypothetically, I'd probably fight in the revolution, and eventually try to take control of the nation myself.

Hey, if there are people inclined to believe that 9/11 was what the government considered a moment to capitalize upon a more authoritarian grasp by spreading fear and paranoia among the people then I'm not at all suprised that there are a select few that would buy into this. If Bush had managed to succesfully orchestrate this though, I would sit back, relax, and rub it in all of your faces, those who doubted the inherent intelligence of GWB!!

I think the real question is how do you fight it? Take to the hills with a hunting rifle or some other way? Perhaps the best way to fight it would be to organize in cells, in a peaceful way, building up popular discontent with such a regime. Then you do a march on the capital the same way the Russians did, which collapsed the USSR in 1991.

I would honestly organizes as many people and start protesting in my own town, stopping the traffic of cars to enter the cities. Creating a small chaos in the economic field.
