It would be cool, yes. Although based on what I feel about humanity and this Earth, I would venture to guess that any superior beings would take one look at this planet and decide to put us all out of our pathetic and insignificant misery...

I think that they'd grab some popcorn and a soda and watch from the cheap seats in orbit.

im sure its happened. i dont think its a matter of if it has or hasnt. but a matter of when will it happen again, and how can we make it happen.

I have for my entire life been mystified
by the yearning of so many people for
the discovery of Martians, ETs and
Little Green Men from outer space.
I am just fine, thank you, with the idea
of the uniqueness of life on Earth,
however likely or unlikely that may be.
One thing no one except for writers of
fiction ever seems to consider is that these
alien life forms might well be hostile, and if
they are advanced enough to find us before
we find them then we would be utterly
defenceless against them.
As to the premise of this threat the notion
we have already been visited ranks with
the lowest form of hysteria and delusion.
Hume observed that the more incredible
the premise the more incontrovertible the
evidence needed to validate it.
Martians-ETs-LGMs are right up there with
Santa Claus. Get back with me when you
can provide a video of a sleigh being pulled
through the sky by reindeer.
It ain't gonna happen.

If we are not totally failing with our physical theories, there is only one likely answer: no
Its such a huge effort to conduct space travel, not only in terms of energy but also and that might be an even larger obstacle, in terms of time.

That's true, unless the aliens moved in entire colonies as a whole nation rather than just as researchers. But than we're going into 100% speculation and imagination. But, yeah, when useing logic, want makes sense is that aliens almost certainly exsist, but it is nearly impossible for them to have come to Earth.

But you're using our logic, our knowledge of physics and transport and our limited ability to travel through space.
Aliens might have an entirely different way...

One law of Physics is that the laws of physics here are the same everywhere in the universe. The speed of light from our sun is the same everywhere. The gravitation constant (which isn't constant, but that's because of different reasons I can go into if you want) is the same every where in the universe. The fact that nothing can accelerate beyond the speed of light is constant everywhere. There are some loop holes, but I'll let you figure them out.

Does anyone here remember the sci-fi series "V" with the lizards that impregnated a young girl and she had twins, one of which was a lizard. The leader of that group was a really awful woman named Diana, they used to catch mice and swallow them whole saying "mousieee". That would be fun to see again.

I saw something on the discovery channel a while ago about aliens. The concept that they will look anything like us is ridiculous at best. All animals that have two eyes, evolved from a single unique ancestor that succeded because of it's two eyes (over say one eye or three eyes), so that got passed down to most living things, the same is for almost every trait the we share with other animals. But these ancestors were unique to earth. The probability of Aliens evolving in the same way as animals here on Earth is almost impossible, the best chance would be if their planet was just like Earth in climate, composistion and meteor history.
