Perhaps I did not express myself clearly. By "and up"
I meant temperatures over 55. Possibly humans could
exist in somewhat cooler temperatures as well.
Since a few days of frost per decade would be unlikely
to kill off a human population, the latitude of human
habitation could extend to that of central/north Florida,
several hundred miles outside the tropics.

I said "very few" and had the exceptions you mention
