And work on helping people. Stop worrying about power, control, and money.
Develop a national peace and relations department. Put all the money we waste on weapons development to better use.

I agreed with you.

It's kind of ironic, we make weapons to protect ourselves from enemies who use weapons developed in the west or Russia, and often sold to them by western arms dealers.

Unrealistic !
I don't want my country to drop the nuclear protection, or dismantle the army.
I want to be protected if a crazy dictator wants to attack us !

I did not say dismantle everything and drop all our protections. I said stop wasting time and resources on making new weapons. By the way, what crazy dictator would invade America? This not a video game.

Nice idea, however, in the real world, it won't work. Put down the bong, and think for a while.

Why wouldn't it work?

1) We do have a "peace and relations" department--it is known as the State Department. It has mixed results. It is rarely successful without the threat of new arms.

2) The only way to develop defenses is to develop offenses.

3) Much peaceful use is made of weapons technology. It would be silly to stop it. For example, a lot of our seismic technology that allows us to predict where a tsunami will hit are based on research we did on nuclear weapons. The GPS is another military spin-off that is showing a lot of good results.

1) State dept. does not do enough.
2) Developing better relations with others is the best defense.
3) Then make a "scientific research for human aid" dept., getting rid of the weapons part.

If every one has no wepons or armys we dont have to protec our self but that just crazy talk.
