How About A Ray Gun?
The military tests new weapon.
The US military revealed a heat-ray gun, the Active Denial System (ADS), to reporters this week.
The technology brings a new, more disorientating dimension to crowd control.
Rioters know where they are with a water cannon: they can see where the cooling is coming from.
Likewise, tear gas smokes before it stings and baton rounds are meant to bounce before they hit the crowd.

This could be used on protesters.
A ray gun that can blast out intense heat to control rioters and disable terrorists was unveiled by American military chiefs yesterday.
The Active Denial System, heat ray gun
The Active Denial System
Designed to cut down on civilian casualties in hostile countries, the device can blast out temperatures over 130°F at a range of up to 550 yards.
The Active Denial System, or "Silent Guardian", penetrates clothes, suddenly heating up the skin.
The effect, said to be like a blast from an oven, is enough to cause discomfort but no lasting harm, according to the military.

I guess it has to be used on people before anyone has a flippin' opinion.

Another story that could be on the SciFi chanel.
Fleeing Iraqi insurgents downed by artificial ice sprayed on the road; an angry mob in Afghanistan dispersed by non-lethal ray gun blasts. This is the future of US weaponry, at least for the Pentagon's high-tech arms research division.
The space-age weapons of Star Wars are not beyond the imagination of researchers at DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the US Department of Defense.
The agency sponsors research into numerous aspects of military operations, particularly technology, it says, "where risk and payoff are both very high and where success may provide dramatic advances for traditional military roles and missions."

Damn it, ............. I guess we're fucked? I wonder how long it will be till we see this shit used on citizens. I never question the greed and power lust of our government, but do you really think they would have the balls to attempt to put 300,000,000 people under "total control"?

No at all Americans disagree with those in power. I do see it being used if the anti-war thing gets out of hand and starts resembling the 70's protests.

Taking away civil rights and freedom of assembly under the guise of a war on terror is a pretty good start.

A very good start and it will only get more intrusive.
