All other side issues aside lets remember this at least.

Cloning is only making an exact genetic replica of an animal. Say a cow that produced a lot of milk or a particular population of cattle that had an ideal amount of flesh or whatnot.

We aren't genetically modifying animals at least. Just copying them. I don't know though. I DO think a variety should still be kept available for use to manage problems that might arise over time with such a thing. I don't think it would be wise to say, exterminate all but one variety of animal that fits our consumption needs best.

When I was in the Army we ate WWII surplus C-Rations every Thursday. After that, I have no fear of cloned meat. I recall sitting in a restaurant in Chicago in 1956 looking out a window at a group of women with signs saying, "Fluoride is poison - Save our water". Cloned animals in the food chain will happen .... medium rare, please.

Eeeeeshh

Yeah, fluoride IS poison. So are certain kinds of the element chromium. Chromium of the right oxidation state, not this one:

Hexavalent Chromium - NIOSH Topic Page

is healthy for you though (helps with metabolic functions).

Fluoride in small amounts is very nice for your teeth. I AM against adding it to drinking water though. People can use mouth rinses with it to embed it into their teeth enamel. It's not a healthy element for your system in any quantity though.

Ah, but it's not the meat so much as the preparation. An inch thick at least with good marbling. A little bit of time for each side (no piercing of the meat) over high heat. Salt and pepper and that does it for me.
Oh, yeah, a BIG pile of mashed potatoes too.

Where's Sglaine? I'll bet he's got a recipe somewhere for a good steak.

Man, I could feel my arteries get a little more clogged just typing that post! MMmmm.

So... cloning animals is cheaper than letting them have sex and reproduce naturally?

That's a scary thought Izzibeth. I hope they don't start cloning humans.

It's more expensive but it guarantees the offspring is the kind of animal you want. You don't get any runts or sickly animals if they are all identical to the selected parent. Like if you have a freak cow that gives three extra gallons of milk a day. Clone that rascal and your dairy farm would pull in a lot more money for the same expense. The same goes for sheep with superior wool, steers with better beef and chickens that lay more/better eggs. It's all big bux if you play it right. Otherwise it isn't really necessary.

Neither is salt, but I am going to sprinkle a little of it on my cloned steak.

Not really. If you don't get ANY salt, you die. A little isn't harmful to most people. Otherwise the population of the US would be about 7 people with electrolyte imbalances.
