Aren't all wars about false images?

I just stumbled about an article that provides with some very interesting analogies concerning how wars are viewed "back home" if only people manipulate the images to suit their goal. The article itself is, IMO, fairly poorly written, but it's the facts it contains that makes for an interesting read.

Your referring to propaganda. It has always been important to keep the people on your side, especially during times of war or pre-war. It was Goebbels that said something like 'bringing the people to the bidding of the government is easy, all you do is tell them they are being attacked and accuse the pacifists of being unpatriotic, it works the same in any country.
Our governments do not want the people up in arms about foreign wars. The media is just another branch of the government and will only give out information about negative stories if they have no choice i.e a neutal media group has shown the story already.
I prefer to look at Reuters for my news, I dont like or trust BBC, Sky, Fox or CNN.

I would think so. How many wars have people rallied around an gone to, only to find out at a later date that it was under false pretenses. Governments will always create an image that will draw support.

Its all about fear and manipulation.
I always worry when my government uses the term 'in the interests of security'

It is indeed interesting that that statement holds as much truth today as ever before

I can honestly say that Geoballs is one of the most interesting people iv ever read about. His use of propaganda is amazing.
Not that I condone what was said or anything, but the methods used.

Most certainly, I totally agree with you. The guy was an absolute genius at what he did, he pretty much perfected modern day propaganda. Unfortunately, he was also a freaking madman, since sadly those two attributes go hand in hand pretty often...
A similar thing can be said about Hitler and his rhetorics. If such speaking power would have been used to make the world a better pleace, god knows how much closer we'd be to paradise nowadays. But again, unfortunately a freaking madman and probably the biggest criminal of the 20th century, eventhough the list of big criminals in that century is fairly long as we all now.

I'd be interested in that, never heard of it. There's no use in denying I'm blatantly ignorant about the Vietnam war

Me too, Vietnam is not a big issue in England, the closest we get to even thinking about it is by watching full metal jacket or Platoon. I know practically nothing about it.
Also with regards to earlier comments by Aztek, I agree. Its a shame Hitler wasnt standing there saying
'we must unite and by peaceful with all of europe. I love jews etc...'
