Last week an Israeli air strike that targeted suspected militants was unexpectedly called off. Palestinian civilians, in order to avert more killing and destruction, had voluntarily gathered as human shields in and around the besieged houses. During the week-long standoff, Father Peter Dougherty, age 65, and Sister Mary Ellen Gudeck, age 55, both from the United States, were the first foreigners to join the Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. Both of them claimed they were ‘sent by God’ to help Mohammed Baroud, who was accused of being a militant and involved in rocket attacks on Israel.


Is there a reason, sound reason for this? It has been done in many wars and will probably be done in many more.

Hmmm, great title. If I were in the position to give the order, I would not have called off the attack but made clear what was going on, as the news would surely twist it if the truth wasn't made absolutely clear. If people choose to put themselves in that position, then it is their choice.

The interpretation of what the bible says can be used by anyone as a means of justification. That doesn't mean innocent people should be placed in harms way because the terrorist want to hide like the cowards they are.
