For now, yes, but the Council on Forgein Relations has given a report to White House urging talks between Syria and the US. It states that common ground must be found for the good of the entire region.

syria is a great country and i ,too, love it. syrians are not terorrists,but they are very nice people. their president, al-asad is very clever and brave.

this are very good thing but will Bush administraton really d o this. Bush he say bevor that Iran and Syrie cross border into Irak to train mercenaire. will there forget abaout this and still talk with Syrie?

If that was Bushs principle he would first have to cut ties with Saudi-Arabia and Pakistan. The syrian regime isn´t worse than these two countries, it just sits on the wrong side of the fence and worse it is the last relic of the panarabic Baath party after Saddam was toppled.
But engaging the Syrians obviously makes sense (under a couple of preconditions). This would finally be a change of course by the Bush administration that acknowledges reality in the Middle East.

I think Syria is given too much power in this article. Hamas would be operating just as it is, without Syria spurring it into action and so would Hezbullah...

I think Iran has more power in this equation. Syria does not have the capital, nor does it have the means to equip and sustain Hamas's long-term fighting...

I think the US is right to shun Iran and Syria. No negotiation with terrorists. This is the right way to go.
