Should this forum have a "Welcome New Members" sticky?
I've found it a useful tool on other forums to make new members feel welcome and provide immediate gratification. Something to think about. If I've missed it, please point it out.

That is an interesting idea. I think that we should listen to what people think about that idea, and if they agree, then we should do so. I think that since it is your idea, if we all agree to it, then the honor of making such a thread should belong to you.

Thanks for the honor but quite honestly I don't know how to make a sticky.

Well firstly, we should wait to see if the rest of the forum thinks this is a good idea or not before taking action.
Secondly, moderators can make any thread into a sticky. All that's required beforehand is for someone to make a thread. The person making this thread in particular, would have to make it in a deliberate manner, knowing that it would be the forums welcome thread for new members.

Well, I've got no problem with that idea. What does everyone else think?

What would be the difference in using a sticky and the announcements/ welcome aboard forum we currently use?

I think the main difference is that it might (1) break the ice on introductions, since it would just be this continuously running introduction thread, and (2) consolidate all the introduction threads into one thread. Some people will still post outside of it, but it will consolidate a lot of the threads people would have otherwise made.

Well, I've always beleived we should help the new posters feel more comfortable coming to this forum,so I think it's a good idea.
Also I think we should incourage new posters to visit differant threads like trolls head tavern member feedback and sports ect.
Also let them know that the moderators are here to help, like Fry and a few others have said in the welcome announcements.
