It's one of the worst types of spammers: registers under different names, with different IPs. So we can't ban him permanently.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lol, nah kidding. Africa humour. Sorry Oz, wish there was an answer, because I've seen forums destoyed when this kind of spamming got out of hand.

Sorry, I think I've not explained this properly.
We ban him. Then he re-registers with a new name. We ban him. He re-registers...
Since he doesn't use the same IP, we can't ban his IP, so there's no way to stop him just creating new accounts, as far as I can tell.

you cold put a spam button somewhere, so in case no mods are on, if like 5 people mark it as spam, it could get temporarily banned till a mod can review it

I agree with Oz. The only thing I would recommend is that when one sees the Nokia spammer to just take comfort in the fact that the thread will probably be deleted within an hour. It's impossible to stop determined trolls and spammers from stepping foot in the door for the reasons OZ listed (proxy IP programs). The best the moderators can do is to eliminate them as soon as they arrive.
As african hope says, I too have seen forums destroyed by spammers, two of them actually. However those forums were derelict with no active posters. As long as a forum has active posters, it will have moderators and as long as it has moderators, the spam can be deleted. On some of these forums I've seen, literally 90% of the threads are spam.

This is a good idea but, the thing is that this would require someone to actually re-write parts of the coding of the forum software, and none of us mods have the technical expertise to do that.

yea i can understand that, i took a year of IT and it was like trying to learn another language, did the moderator formerly known as Administrator write the coding, or was it done by a third party? Also, are we allowed to degrade or personallly asault spammers of this sort?:P
