Spam prevention.
To prevent spam it might be a good idea to offer a cooling off period for new members. Not allow them to post for a couple of days so that spammers cannot make accounts and start posting. You could also just do this in forums that get a lot of spam. Just a suggestion.

It's an interesting idea, but it would put off new posters a lot if they register and then find they can't use the site for a while.
We can normally find spam and delete it reasonably fast.

What about having new members wait a day before they can create a thread? Let them post, but no creating for the first day. I don't think there is that big of a problem of spam that something needs to be done, but if the admin thinks so, there's an idea.

I guess then, they would just post their spam in another thread.
In case spam should become a real large problem this might be an idea worth to think about. I don't have the impression though that we have reached that point yet.
Spammers normally have a rather short life here....

I would agree that it isn't a problem, that guy was just a stray spammer, they always come and go from time to time. I think the Admin here has earned our trust that we trust them to handle the situation and that we don't need to worry about it.

I'd prefer spam to be new threads rather than on existing posts. It's easier to find, and thus delete. But if it does become a huge problem, we might want to think about things like this.
Right now, I don't think it's significant.

But if they can't create threads, they won't be able to make their 'Welcome Aboard' announcement.

True, I didn't think about that. But it looks like nothing is going to be done, as nothing really needs to be done.

All this talk about spam and desserts is making me hungry.
