Good topic, I was just discussing this the other day with someone. I am not a "prude" or whatever, but what they can broadcast on t.v. now is horrible, IMO. I don't dare watch t.v. around my grandkids unless it is Nickelodeon channel

There are a lot more issues with programming, but what does everyone think of this one?

However, I'll think about starting a media section. Feel free to do your media stuff in the society section and if there is enough media stuff, then I'll create a media forum and move the threads into the media forum. It's a fairly simple thing for a mod or admin.

Please let me know if you have any further comments or questions.

I had a flash I needed consumer level video capture/editing software for a new camcorder. I looked at Society and was reluctant to post over a five page thread that has a lot of participation.

Lazy, but rather than leave the site spending time searching for reviews, I thought I'd take a shot. More sections could attract a lot more traffic, such as a neighborhood store compared to a supermarket, and better retain posters.

abortion
gay rights
medicare
civil rights
social security

etc

I don't think this forum is yet large enough to really warrant a strategic increase in forums. I'll definetely make a media forum. Give me suggestions on a few forums that we need the most.

From your list I'd say gay rights and civil rights. Gay rights are challenged by belief systems, which will attract religion and political posters and while I believe abortion is a civil rights issue, that's also primarily challenged by believers. Lots of scripture quoting, eternal damnation and politicians catering to controversy always prompts discussion. Tough moderation duty.

IMO 4forum and others have several unnecessary forums with little or no traffic. Getting the right combination of forums to attract quality posters and drive traffic is why you get the big bucks.
