Dictionary definition of terms:

conscript

One compulsorily enrolled for service, especially in the armed forces; a draftee.

reeve

an administrative officer of a town or district.

governor-general

1.a governor who is chief over subordinate or deputy governors.

baron

1.a member of the lowest grade of nobility.

viscount

1.a nobleman next below an earl or count and next above a baron.

earl

1.a British nobleman of a rank below that of marquis and above that of viscount: called count for a time after the Norman conquest. The wife of an earl is a countess.

marquis

a nobleman ranking next below a duke and above an earl or count.

duke

2.a British nobleman holding the highest hereditary title outside the royal family, ranking immediately below a prince and above a marquis; a member of the highest rank of the British peerage.

archduke

viceroy

1.a person appointed to rule a country or province as the deputy of the sovereign: the viceroy of India.

regent

1.a person who exercises the ruling power in a kingdom during the minority, absence, or disability of the sovereign.

overlord

1.a person who is lord over another or over other lords: to obey the will of one's sovereign and overlord.
